5.00 g of molten NaCl is at its melting temperature. The salt is added to 25.00 mL water at 25.0 °C in a coffee cup calorimeter.

The salt becomes solid and the temperature of the water increases to 47.9 °C. a) Calculate the amount of heat transferred.

Answer:

heat absorbed by water = 2.39 KJ

Explanation:

given,

mass of molten NaCl = 5 g

mass of  water = 25 g

Temperature of water = 25.0 °C

Temperature increased to = 47.9 °C

heat absorbed by water = m S ΔT

S is specific heat in J/gm °C

Specific heat of water = 4.184 J/gm °C

m is mass of water

heat absorbed by water = 25 x 4.184 x (47.9-25)

                                         = 25 x 4.184 x 22.9

                                         = 2395.34 J

heat absorbed by water = 2.39 KJ

A 1502.7 kg car is traveling at 33.1 m/s when
Bond [772]

By definition of average acceleration,

a = (20 m/s - 33.1 m/s) / (4.7 s) ≈ -2.78 m/s²

Vertically, the car is in equilibrium, so the net force is equal to the friction force in the direction opposite the car's motion:

∑ F = (1502.7 kg) (-2.78 m/s²) ≈ -4188.38 N ≈ -4200 N

If you just want the magnitude, drop the negative sign.

A 23.3-kg mass is attached to one end of a horizontal spring, with the other end of the spring fixed to a wall. The mass is pull
sdas [7]

In spring mass system we know that angular frequency is given as

\omega = 2\pi f

f = 8.38 Hz

\omega = 2\pi(8.38)

\omega = 52.65  rad/s

now we know that speed of SHM at its extreme position is given by

v = A\omega

here we know that

A = 17.5 cm

v = 0.175 (52.65)

v = 9.21 m/s

so maximum speed is 9.21 m/s

During which stage does the birth rate begin to decline?
sveticcg [70]

Answer:

During stage 3 - late expanding (of demogrpahic transition model)

Explanation:

During stage 3, birth rate begins to decline as infant mortality is lower and women have more access to education, family planning, and contraceptives. Children are not needed as "free labor" as they might have been in earlier stages.

A tiny 0.0250 -microgram oil drop containing 15 excess electrons is suspended between to horizontally closely-spaced metal plate
qaws [65]

Answer:

(a) 12 × 10⁻³ C = 12 mC (b) The lower plate

Explanation:

Given

mass of oil drop, m = 0.025 μg =  0.025 × 10⁻⁶

radius of plates, r = 6.50 cm = 6.5 × 10⁻² m

k = 1/4πε₀ = 9.0 × 10⁹ Nm²/C²

electric charge, e= 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ C

charge on oil drop, q = 15e

charge on plates, Q = ?

First, we find the charge density of the plates, D = Q/A where Q = charge on plates and A = area of plates. Since the plates are circular, the area is given by A=πr² where r = radius of plates. D=Q/πr²

Also, the electric field, E between the plates is given by E = D/ε =Q/Aε = Q/ε₀πr².

The force on the oil drop due to the electric field between the plates is given by F = qE = qQ/ε₀πr².

Since the oil drop is suspended between the plates, it means that the electric force due to the field on the oil drop balances the weight of the oil drop. So, since weight of oil drop W = mg where g = 9.8 m/s². F =W (for oil drop suspension).

So, qQ/ε₀πr²=mg

So, Q=mgε₀πr²/q

From k = 1/4πε₀, ε₀=1/4πk

So, Q = mgπr²/4πkq = mgr²/4kq = (0.025 × 10⁻⁶ × 9.8 × (6.5 × 10⁻²)²)÷(4 × 9 × 10⁹ × 15 × 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹)= 0.012 C = 12 mC

(b) The lower plate must be positive because, the direction of the electric field must be upwards, so as to balance out the weight of the oil drop so as to suspend it.
