Answer:

heat absorbed by water = 2.39 KJ

Explanation:

given,

mass of molten NaCl = 5 g

mass of  water = 25 g

Temperature of water = 25.0 °C

Temperature increased to = 47.9 °C

heat absorbed by water = m S ΔT

 S is specific heat in J/gm °C

 Specific heat of water = 4.184 J/gm °C

 m is mass of water

heat absorbed by water = 25 x 4.184 x (47.9-25)

                                         = 25 x 4.184 x 22.9

                                         = 2395.34 J

heat absorbed by water = 2.39 KJ

A weight lifter lifts a 1.0 x 103 N weight 1.5 m in 2.0 s. The power is?
viktelen [127]

Answer:

750W

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Weight = 1 x 10³N = 1000N

Distance  = 1.5m

Time  = 2s

Unknown:

Power = ?

Solution:

Power is the rate at which work is done

  Work is the force applied on a body to move it through a particular distance

         Work = force x distance

            Power = \frac{work}{time}

Now, work = 1000 x 1.5 = 1500J

So;

     Power  = \frac{1500}{2}   = 750W

A whistle of frequency 564 Hz moves in a circle of radius 71.2 cm at an angular speed of 17.1 rad/s. What are (a) the lowest and
trapecia [35]

Answer:

a) f'=544.66 \textup{Hz}

b) f'=584.75 \textup{Hz}

Explanation:

Given:

Frequency of the whistle, f = 564 Hz

Radius of the circle, r = 71.2 cm = 0.712 m

Angular speed, ω = 17.1 rad/s

speed of source, v_s = rω = 0.712 × 17.1 = 12.1752 m/s

speed of sound, v = 343 m/s

Now, applying the Doppler's effect formula, we have

f'=f\frac{v\pm v_d}{v\pm v_s}

where,

v_d = relative speed of the detector with respect to medium = 0

a) for lowest frequency, we have the formula as:

f'=f\frac{v}{v+v_s}

on substituting the values, we get

f'=564\times\frac{343}{343+12.1752}

or

f'=544.66 \textup{Hz}

b) for maximum frequency, we have the formula as:

f'=f\frac{v}{v-v_s}

on substituting the values, we get

f'=564\times\frac{343}{343-12.1752}

or

f'=584.75 \textup{Hz}
