Probability = (nr. of ways it can succeed) / (total nr. of possible outcomes)

The first cube can come up in 6 different ways. For each of those . . .
The second cube can come up in 6 different ways.
Total number of possible outcomes = 6 x 6 = 36 .

The toss succeeds if the sum is 5.
How many ways can that happen ?
1 . . . 4
2 . . . 3
3 . . . 2
4 . . . 1
Four different ways.

Probability = 4/36 = 1/9 = 11.1%

3rd set = 16 x 4 = 64 letters

4th set = 64 x 4 = 256 letters

5th set = 256 x 4 = 1,024 letters

6th set =1024 x 4 = 4,096 letters

7th set = 4096 x 4 = 16,384 letters

8th set = 16,384 x 4 = 65,536 letters

Understand that: • the sum of two positive numbers is greater than either number. Understand that addition is the inverse of subtraction (addition reverses subtraction and vice versa) and use this to check results. Respond rapidly to oral or written questions, explaining the strategy used. For example: • 654 add 50… Add 68 to 74… • 7 add 12 add 9… Add 15, 6, 4, 15 and 1… • What is the sum/total of 26 and 39? And of 13, 62 and 3? • How many altogether are 121 and 35? And 61, 37 and 6? • Increase 48 by 22. • Which three numbers could have a total of 103? Are there any others?
