Answer: N_2O_5

Explanation:

Dinitrogen pentoxide is a covalent compound because sharing of electrons takes place between nitrogen and oxygen. Both the elements are non-metals and hence, will form covalent bond.

The nomenclature of covalent compound is given by:

1. The less electronegative element is written first.

2. The more electronegative element is written then, and a suffix is added with it. The suffix added is '-ide'.

3. If atoms of an element is greater than 1, then prefixes are added which are 'mono' for 1 atom, 'di' for 2 atoms, 'tri' for 3 atoms and so on.

Thus the chemical formula for dinitrogen pentoxide is N_2O_5

Determine ΔH for the reaction CaCO3 → CaO + CO2 given these data: 2 Ca + 2 C + 3 O2 → 2 CaCO3 ΔH = −2,414 kJ C + O2 → CO2 ΔH = −
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

The ΔH for the reaction is -456.5 KJ

Explanation:

Here we want to determine ΔH for the reaction;

Mathematically;

ΔH = ΔH(product) - ΔH(reactant)

In the case of the first reaction;

ΔH = ΔH(CaO) + ΔH(CO2) - ΔH(CaCO3) ...........................(*)

From the other reactions, we can get the respective ΔH for the individual molecule in the reaction

In second reaction;

Kindly note that for elements, molecule of gases, ΔH = 0

What this means is that throughout the solution;

ΔH(Ca) = 0 KJ

ΔH(O2) = 0 KJ

ΔH(C) = 0 KJ

Thus, in writing the equation for the subsequent chemical reactions, we shall need to write and equate the overall ΔH for the reaction to that of the product alone

So in the second reaction

ΔH = 2ΔH(CaCO3)

Thus;

-2414/2 = ΔH(CaCO3)

ΔH(CaCO3) = -1,207 KJ

Moving to the third reaction, we have;

ΔH = ΔH(CO2)

Hence ΔH(CO2) = -393.5 KJ

For the last reaction;

ΔH = ΔH(CaO)

Hence ΔH(CaO) = -1270 KJ

Going back to equation *

ΔH = ΔH(CaO) + ΔH(CO2) - ΔH(CaCO3)

Using the values of the ΔH of the respective molecules given above,

ΔH = -1270 + (-393.5) - (-1207)

ΔH = -456.5 KJ

Would nitrogen gas be a mineral if it has a chemical formula of n2?
STALIN [3.7K]

Answer:

Nitrogen gas be a mineral only, if it is in organic forms.

Explanation:

Most of the forms of organic nitrogen is not be taken by plants, with the exception in the form of small organic molecules. Also plants can promptly take the nitrogen when it is in other forms like ammonia and nitrate.

The microorganisms in the soil converts the organic forms of nitrogen to mineral form when they decompose organic matters and also fresh plant residues. This type of process is called mineralisation.

What is true about resonance structures? Select the correct answer below: They are all different molecules. The interconvert wit
3241004551 [841]

Answer:

The correct answer is: They each partially describe the bonding in a molecule.

Explanation:

Some chemical molecules cannot be described completely by using only one Lewis structure. In these cases, we can describe the molecule by drawing 2 or more Lewis structures, and the structures are called resonance structures. The overall molecular structure is explained by all the resonance structures together. So, they each describe the bonding in the molecule only partially.
