Ringworm is a contagious fungal infection of the skin. Ringworm is caused by fungi and it results in a ring shaped reddish patches which is usually covered by vesicles or scales on the affected body area. Ringworm may affect the skin of the scalp, groin, feet, beard, palm of hands or other body parts. Ringworm is transmitted by touching an infected person or object or by skin to skin contact.
