An airplane flew 4 hours with a 25 mph tail wind. The return trip against the same wind took 5 hours. Find the speed of the airp

lane in still air. This similar to the current problem as you have to consider the 25 mph tailwind and headwind. Plane on outbound trip of 4 hours with 25 mph tailwind and return trip of 5 hours with 25 mph headwind Let r = the rate or speed of the airplane in still air. Let d = the distance
a. Write a system of equations for the airplane. One equation will be for the outbound trip with tailwind of 25 mph. The second equation will be for the return trip with headwind of 25 mph.
b. Solve the system of equations for the speed of the airplane in still air.

Answer:

r  = 225 Mil/h     speed of the airplane in still air

Step-by-step explanation:

Then:

d  is traveled distance   and r  the speed of the airplane in still air

so the first equation is for a 4 hours trip

as  d = v*t

d  =  4 *  ( r  + 25)    (1)          the speed of tail wind  (25 mil/h)

Second equation the trip back in 5 hours

d  =  5  * ( r  - 25 )    (2)

So we got a system of two equation and two unknown variables  d  and

r

We solve it by subtitution

from equation (1)     d  =  4r  + 100

plugging in equation 2

4r  + 100  = 5r -  125    ⇒   -r  =  -225     ⇒    r  = 225 Mil/h

And distance is :

d  =  4*r  +  100         ⇒ d  =  4 * ( 225)  +  100

d  =  900 +   100

d  = 1000 miles

Problem 1

Answer: Closer to 1

Explanation:

There are 20 gumballs total. Half of this is 20/2 = 10 gumballs. If there's more than 10 of one color, then the probability of getting that color is closer to 1, than it is to 0. Here we have 12 pink which is greater than 10, so that's why the answer is closer to 1.

Problem 2

Answer: Closer to 0

Explanation:

The amount of green (3) is less than 10, so that's why the probability is closer to 0 than it is to 1. We can see that 3/20 = 0.15 is less than 0.50

================================================

Problem 3

Answer: Closer to 0

Explanation:

We have a similar situation compared to problem 2. This time we have 5/20 = 0.25 which is less than 0.50

================================================

Problem 4

Answer: 48% chance; fairly likely

Explanation:

We have 12 green out of 25 total, so the probability of choosing green is 12/25 = 0.48 = 48%. While this probability is not over 50%, I still say it's fairly likely considering the other colors lead to smaller probabilities. For instance, purple has a chance of 6/25 = 0.24 = 24% and orange has a probability of 2/25 = 0.04 = 4%, both of which are smaller than 48%

Find the slope of the line that passes through (1,5) and (10, 10).
Oliga [24]

Answer:

\frac{5}{9}

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the slope with two points given would be

\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Substitute

\frac{10-5}{10-1} =\frac{5}{9}

Ana angle measure 79.8 degrees less than the measure of it’s complementary angle what is the measure of each angle
RUDIKE [14]

Answer:

x = 129.8 degrees,  y = 50.2 degrees,    x + y = 180

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's say you have 2 supplementary angles, x and y

So x + y = 180

if x is 79.8 degrees less than the measure of a supplementary angle, then x = y - 79.8

Putting this into our x + y = 180 equation, we get

(y - 79.8) + y = 180

2y - 79.8 = 180

2y = 180 + 79.8

2y = 259.8

y = 259.8/2 = 129.9 degrees.

so x = 129.9 - 79.6 = 50.3 degrees.

See if it worked. x = 129.9 degrees,  y = 50.3 degrees,    x + y = 180 so we found the correct two angles! :-)
