Consider this equilibrium: H2(g) + I2(g) 2HI(g) Keq = 50.0. What is the Keq value when the reaction rewritten: 2HI(g) H2(g) + I2

Answer:

0.02

Explanation:

The balanced equation is

H_{2(g)} +I_{2(g)}   2HI_{(g)} \\

So the equilbrium constant is calculated the following way

\frac{[HI]^{2} }{[H_{2] }[I_{2}]} = 50\\

When the reaction is written in reverse

2HI_{(g)}   H_{2(g)} + I_{2(g)} \\

Then the equilibrium constant becomes:

\frac{[H_{2} ][I_{2} ]}{[HI]^{2} }

which the reciprocal of K eq in the first part. So to find Keq of the second form the equation we also reciprocate 50

\frac{1}{50} = 0.02

 <span>If H2 + I2 ===> 2HI, then Kc = [HI]^2/[H2][I2] = 50.0

If 2HI ===> H2 +I2, then Kc = [H2][I2]/[HI]^2 = 1/50.0 = 0.0200 so the correct is Answer B

vlada-n [284]
Reduced is the right answer. You can remember it like that if it gains electron that means it will turn negative or will get reduced nuber. So itis reduction

Why would an atom with high electronegativity be a great match for an atom with low ionization energy?
nadezda [96]

Because the easier a metal donates an electron (Low Ionization Energy), the more readily a non-metal with high electromagnetically will accept it.

Thus they match well, - one readily donates, the other readily accepts. This is how ionic bonding occurs.

Hope this helps.

Describe the observation Robert Brown made.
12345 [234]

Answer:

In 1827, Brown observed, using a microscope, that small particles ejected from pollen grains suspended in water executed a kind of continuous and jittery movement, this was named “Brownian motion”. ... This random movement of particles suspended in a fluid is now called after him.

Measurements show that enthalpy of a mixture of gaseous reactants decreases by 228. kJ during a certain chemical reaction, which
Tcecarenko [31]
Total change in energy = Heat produced by system + work done on the system
= 228 - 55
= 173 kJ

Because this energy is released as heat, the reaction is exothermic.
