Answer:

The molality of toluene is 7.748 molal

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Mass of toluene = 199.7 grams

Mass of benzene = 80.0 gram

Molar mass of benzene = 78.11 g/mol

Molar mass of toluene = 92.14 g/mol

Step 2: Calculate total mass

Total mass = mass of toluene + total benzene

Total mass = 199.7 grams + 80.0 grams

Total mass = 279.7 grams = 0.2797 kg

Step 3: Calculate moles of toluene

Moles toluene = mass toluene / molar mass toluene

Moles toluene = 199.7 grams / 92.14 g/mol

Moles toluene = 2.167 moles

Step 4: Calculate molality of toluene

Molality toluene = moles / mass solution

Molality = 2.167 moles / 0.2797 kg

Molality = 7.748 molal

The molality of toluene is 7.748 molal

What is the mass of an object that has a density of 0.500 g/cm3 and a volume of 5.00 mL?
attashe74 [19]

Answer:

The answer is 2.5 g

Explanation:

The mass of a substance when given the density and volume can be found by using the formula

mass = Density × volume

From the question

density = 0.5 g/cm³

1 mL = 1 cm³

5 mL = 5 cm³

volume = 5 cm³

The mass is

mass = 0.5 × 5

We have the final answer as

2.5 g

Hope this helps you

Fe(NO3)2 not sure how to get the oxidation numbers of all elements
Shtirlitz [24]
You must remember that oxidation number of hydrogen in acids is always +1, oxidation number of oxygen in oxides & acids is always -2... metals has always oxidation number on plus!

group NO3 comes from HNO3...and oxidation number of whole acid group is always on minus and equal to the amount of hydrogen atoms in this acid... so oxidation number of NO3 = -1

we have 2 NO3 groups so 2*(-1) = -2 and that is the reason why oxidation number of Fe in this formula must be +2... because sum of all elements always gives 0!

Now we could count of oxidation number for nitrogen... we write HNO3 and start counting from right to left:
3*(-2) from oxygens + 1 from hydrogen = -5
so nitrogen must have +5 oxidation number... because sum all in formula must be 0.

joja [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

If one mole of carbon monoxide has a mass of 28.01 g and one mole of carbon dioxide has a mass of 44.01 g , it follows that the reaction produces 44.01 g of carbon dioxide for every 28.01 g of carbon monoxide.
