In the viable plate count method, a measured volume of a culture is evenly spread across an agar surface and incubated. Each ___
andrew-mc [135]

In the viable plate count method, a measured volume of a culture is evenly spread across an agar surface and incubated. Each colony represents one cell from the original sample.

Explanation:

A viable count is the number of colony forming units (cfu) of microbes per gram or per milliliter of the sample, or cfu/gm or cfu/ml.

In order to find whether the cells counted is viable or not, methods like plate-count method, membrane-filter methods are used. These tests allow the visible cells to grow and multiply to check the viability.

The plate count method is done by growing the microorganisms like bacteria on a plate in a nutrient medium or substrate like the agar surface. The bacteria will grow into colonies and will be visible to the naked eye.

Each colony unit is counted and each unit in a colony represents a single cell of the bacteria or any microorganism cultured and counted.

The counting is done by various methods like hemocytometers, streak plate etc.

Scientists isolate cells in various phases of the cell cycle. They find a group of cells that have times more dna than g1 phase
ratelena [41]

Answer:

in the S phase of the cell cycle

Explanation:

Scientists isolate cells in various phases of the cell cycle. They find a group of cells that have 1.5 times more DNA than G1 phase cells. The cells of this group are _____.

The cell cycle has two main stages which is the interphase and the M phase.

While the M phase is characterized by active division, the interphase consists of G0 phase which is entirely a resting phase for cells that do not need to divide ordinarily, G1 phase which is a phase for cell drowth and development, S phase which is a phase for DNA synthesis or replication and G2 phase which is a phase for protein synthesis.

Hence, cells in the S phase and G2 phase of the cell cycle are expected to have more DNA than cells in the G0 and G1 phase.

Essentially, the amount of DNA is doubled in the S phase. Therefore, if the cell group have 1.5 times more DNA than G1 phase cells, it means the cells are still in S phase.

In the embryo, the early skeletal muscle originates from the _______. In the adult, skeletal muscle is repaired by fusion of ___
const2013 [10]

The prenatal muscle originates from the myotome. The myotome produces presumed myoblasts that form the satellite cells. Answer: myotome / satellite cells.

How is the skeletal muscle originated and repaired?

Myogenesis is the process of skeletal muscle formation during the embryonal stage. Structures derived from the mesodermal produce the firsts muscle fibers of the body, and then other additional fibers.

The myotome is a primitive muscular structure that contains progenitor muscle cells. Embryonary myotome cells produce two types of cells,

 • presumed myoblasts that constitute a store of cells that can multiplicate through mitosis

 • properly said myoblasts that can not suffer mitosis

Some of the presumed myoblasts can differentiate into other cells, and some others remain undifferentiated, turning into satellite cells.

This is, progenitor cells in the myotome originate presumed myoblasts, and then these last ones produce satellite cells located in the postnatal skeletal muscle.

Satellite cells are involved in the postnatal process of muscle repair. They suffer successive mitosis producing new myoblasts and more satellite cells.

 • In the embryo, the early skeletal muscle originates from the myotome.
 • In the adult, skeletal muscle is repaired by fusion of _Satellite cells_ with muscle fibers.
