Complete Question

What was the first scientific step used by Zadock Thompson to research the mysterious skeleton?

A. He convinced the railroad to halt construction until a scientist could examine the skeleton.

B. He collected and catalogued all of the bones from the site.

C. He compared the bone's characteristics to research on fossils and bone structures.

D. He concluded that the skeleton belonged to an ancient whale.

Answer:

C. He compared the bone's characteristics to research on fossils and bone structures.

Explanation:

Zadock Thompson was a naturalist and geologist that was born in Vermont in the year 1796 on the 23rd of May.

In the year 1849, some workers working on a railroad construction site in vermont were digging beds for the railroad when they found some very large bones which they could not identify, therefore the person overseeing or in charge of the construction site called for Zadock Thompson.

Zadock Thompson looked at the bones he found on the construction site, they were quite big in size and compared their characteristics to the research on fossils and bone structures and determined it was the bones of a creature that could be found at the sea, a marine creature specifically a whale.

He later travelled back to Havard college in Cambridge with the bones of the creature to find out exactly what type of whale it was.

-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

Explanation:

s = ut+ 0.5at²

u = 0

t = 6

a = 9.81

s = 0 + 0.5 * 9.81 * 36 = 176.58 m

v = u + at

v = 9.81* 36 = 353 m/s

TiliK225 [7]

Answer:

No, the acceleration is not always zero.

Explanation:

It does not mean that the acceleration of the particle is zero.

The velocity of wave is different from the velocity of particle.

The acceleration of wave is different from the acceleration of particle.

the acceleration of the particle is given by

a =- w^2 y

where, w is the angular frequency and y is the displacement from the mean position.

So, the acceleration is zero at mean position only and it varies as the position changes.

The electric field must be zero inside a conductor in electrostatic equilibrium, but not inside an insulator. It turns out that
pav-90 [236]

Answer:

The permittivity of rubber is  \epsilon  = 8.703 *10^{-11}

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

     The  magnitude of the point charge is  q_1 =  70 \ nC  =  70 *10^{-9} \  C

      The diameter of the rubber shell is  d = 32 \ cm  =  0.32 \ m

       The Electric field inside the rubber shell is  E =  2500 \ N/ C

The radius of the rubber is  mathematically evaluated as

              r =  \frac{d}{2} =  \frac{0.32}{2}  =  0.16 \ m

Generally the electric field for a point  is in an insulator(rubber) is mathematically represented as

         E =  \frac{Q}{ \epsilon }  *  \frac{1}{4 *  \pi r^2}

Where \epsilon is the permittivity of rubber

    =>     E  *  \epsilon  *  4 * \pi *  r^2 =  Q

   =>      \epsilon  =  \frac{Q}{E *  4 *  \pi *  r^2}

substituting values

            \epsilon  =  \frac{70 *10^{-9}}{2500 *  4 *  3.142 *  (0.16)^2}

            \epsilon  = 8.703 *10^{-11}
