Elements combine to form chemical compounds in order to be stable. <span>The Octet Rule says that atoms </span>form compounds<span> to reach eight electrons in their outer shell. Some elements cannot occur naturally as it is because it needs something to satisfy the octet rule so they exist as compounds. Hope this helps.</span>
