Find the kinetic energy of an electron whose de broglie wavelength is 34.0 nm.

The De Broglie wavelength of the electron is
\lambda=34.0 nm=34 \cdot 10^{-9} m
And we can use De Broglie's relationship to find its momentum:
p= \frac{h}{\lambda}= \frac{6.6 \cdot 10^{-34} Js}{34 \cdot 10^{-9} m}=1.94 \cdot 10^{-26} kg m/s

Given p=mv, with m being the electron mass and v its velocity, we can find the electron's velocity:
v= \frac{p}{m}= \frac{1.94 \cdot 10^{-26} kgm/s}{9.1 \cdot 10^{-31} kg}=  2.13 \cdot 10^4 m/s

This velocity is quite small compared to the speed of light, so the electron is non-relativistic and we can find its kinetic energy by using the non-relativistic formula:
K= \frac{1}{2}mv^2= \frac{1}{2}(9.1 \cdot 10^{-31} kg)(2.13 \cdot 10^4 m/s)^2=2.06 \cdot 10^{-22} J

Answer:

See the answer below.

Explanation:

The latent heat of fusion is defined as the amount of energy needed to make a phase change from solid to liquid. And it can be calculated by means of the following expression:

Q_{fusion}=m*Dh

where:

Qfusion = Heat Energy [J]

m = mass = 0.65 [kg]

Dh =  latent heat fusion = 330000[J/kg]

Q_{fusion}=0.65*330000\\Q_{fusion}=214500[J]

2)

We know that energy can be calculated from power, where power is defined as the relationship between energy over time.

P=E/t

where:

P = power = 60 [w]

E = energy [J]

t = time = 5 [min] = 300 [s]

E=P*t\\E=50*300\\E=15000[J]

The mass change due to the process is equal to:

m=282-274\\m=8[g]=0.008[kg]

Now using the following equation for the latent heat of Fusion, we can calculate this value:

Q=m*Dh\\Dh =Q/m\\Dh=15000/0.008\\Dh=1875000[J/kg]

suggest why it is better to use light gates and a computer than to use a stopwatch and a ruler to measure the speed of a toy car
grandymaker [24]

Human response times are eliminated from time measurement using light gates. if the stopwatch is damaged, the data logger terminates it.

<h3>What is speed?</h3>

Speed is defined as the rate of change of the distance or the height attained. it is a time-based quantity. it is denoted by u for the initial speed while u for the final speed. its si unit is m/sec.

To measure the speed of a toy automobile, it is preferable to utilize light gates and a computer as opposed to a stopwatch and a ruler.

Because Light gates eliminate the effects of human reaction delays for measuring time. is damaged,

The stopwatch is stopped by the data logger. With no reaction time, the uncertainty is substantially reduced.

The average speed may be determined by measuring the distance between the two light gates.

Hence, it is better to use light gates and a computer than to use a stopwatch and a ruler to measure the speed of a toy car.

(a) When the terminals of a 100-V battery are connected to two parallel plates 1 cm apart, what is the electrical field in the r
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

The electrical field in the region between the plates is 10,000 V/m.

Explanation:

Given;

potential difference between the two parallel plates, V = 100 V

distance between the two parallel plates, d = 1 cm = 0.01 m

The electrical field in the region between the plates is given as;

E = V / d

where;

E is the electrical field in the region between the plates

E = (100) / (0.01)

E = 10,000 V/m

Therefore, the electrical field in the region between the plates is 10,000 V/m.
