The “A” stands for airway, “B” stands for respiratory, and “C” stands either for circulation or compressions. The standard definition to the signifier “ABC” is Airway, respiratory and CIRCULATION.
ABC's of resuscitation usually are used to describe the three most important aspects of CPR, Basic Life Support, and Advanced Life Support. A stands for Airway, B stands for Breathing, and C stands for Circulation. If any one of these things are compromised a patient can and will die.
