Answer:

table sugar: water

motor oil: gasoline

rubber from tire marks: gasoline

adhesive residue from a packing tape: gasoline

Explanation:

Like dissolves like so a polar compound will dissolve in a polar solvent and a non polar compound will dissolve in a non-polar solvent. The intermolecular forces of attraction are responsible for the dissolution of substances in different solvents.

For example, polar solute exhibit hydrogen bonding and dipole interaction with polar solvents (water). Non-polar solute exhibit London dispersion forces with non-polar solvents(gasoline).

To know the answer, we determine the polarities of the solvent we have. Water is polar and gasoline is nonpolar. We remember that like dissolves like. Therefore, the answers are:

table sugar = water
motor oil = gasoline
rubber from tire marks = gasoline
adhesive residue from a packing tape = gasoline

1. What is the atmospheric layer responsible for long-distance radio communication?
eduard

Answer:

option D= Thermosphere

Explanation:

Thermosphere:

It is the layer of earth which is present above the mesosphere and below the exosphere. In therosphere photoionization of molecules is occur due to U.V radiations and produce the ions in ionosphere.

Ionosphere:

It is present about 60 - 1,000 Km altitude of upper earth atmosphere and it is ionized part of atmosphere. It is present in thermosphere and parts of meso and exosphere. It is also called the extension of thermosphere. Although it is very small region but having great importance. Solar radiations ionized the ionosphere. It has many important role, for example in atmospheric electricity, creating the edge of magnetosphere and in radio communication to the long distance places of earth. The region present just below the ionosphere is termed as neutrosphere or neutral atmosphere.

Layers of ionization:

At the night significant ionization is occur in F layer but the ionization in D and E layer is not significant. In the day time too much heavy ionization is occur in D and E layer. The F layer create an other layer which called F1 and it is weaker ionization region. The ionization in F2 layer is occur day and night and this part is responsible for reflection and refraction of radio waves.

How much heat is required to increase the temperature of 100.0 grams of iron from 15.0oC to 40.2oC? (The specific heat of iron i
svetlana [45]
The formula you need is: heat= specific heat x mass x ΔT

specific heat= 0.46 j/g-C
mass= 100.0 grams
ΔT= 40.2 - 15.0= 25.2C

heat= (0.46) x (100.0) x (25.2)= 1159.2 joules or 1200 joules (rounded off)
