There are four quantum numbers for an orbital, namely, principal quantum number n, azimuthal quantum number l, magnetic quantum number m_{l} and spin quantum number s. No two orbitals can have same value for all the four quantum numbers.

Principal quantum number tells about the position of orbital that is shell number, azimuthal quantum number describes the shape of orbital, for s, p, d, f,... orbitals, the value is 0, 1, 2, 3,... so on. The value of magnetic quantum number varies from -l to +l (including zero), it defines the sub shell of electron. Spin of the electron defines its movement that is clockwise or anticlockwise thus, there are only two possible values for spin quantum number: +1/2 or -1/2.

For 2p orbital, principal quantum number n is 2 (denotes the shell) and azimuthal quantum number for p orbital is 1. Thus, different values for magnetic quantum number will be -l to l that is -1, 0,1.

Therefore, for 2p subshell there are 3 different  m_{l} values.

The main purpose of the muscular system is to ____
vladimir2022 [97]

Answer: B. Allow for movement

Explanation: Because the muscular system is composed of specialized cells called muscle fibers. Their predominant function is contractibility. Muscles, attached to bones or internal organs and blood vessels, are responsible for movement. Nearly all movement in the body is the result of muscle contraction. As a chlorine atom becomes a negative ion, the atom blanks an electron
Andrew [12]

Answer: increases by

As a chlorine atom becomes a negative ion, the atom "increases by" an electron

Explanation:

Chlorine atom has an atomic number of 17, and an electronic configuration of 1s2, 2s2 2p6, 3s2 3p5 showing 7 valence electrons in its outermost shell.

Hence, it receives a single electron to achieve a stable octet structure with electronic configuration of

1s2, 2s2 2p6, 3s2 3p6. Therefore, Cl- is a univalent negative ion with 8 valence electrons in its outermost shell. The increase is shown below

Cl + e- --> Cl-

Thus, as a chlorine atom becomes a negative ion, the atom "increases by" an electron

What is it about the structure of methyl alcohol that would result in two major peaks in its NMR spectrum?
UNO [17]

Explanation:

In case of methyl alcohol , i.e. , CH₃OH ,

counting the equivalent protons , there are three protons of the methyl group at are all equivalent  , and shows the chemical shift at 3.4 - 4.0 ppm , there is the increase in the chemical shift value due to the presence of an electronegative oxygen atom .

And there is one more hydrogen atom in the alcoholic functional group , and this hydrogen will also show a chemical shift at 5.0 - 5.5 ppm .

Therefore ,

Methyl alcohol will show two signals due to methyl proton and another due to OH hydrogen .
