Answer:

See figure 1

Explanation:

In this question, we have to start with the protonation of the double bond. In carvone we have two double bonds, so, we have to decide first which one would be protonated.

The problem states that the terminal alkene is the one that would is protonated. Therefore, we have to do the protonation in the double bond at the bottom to produce the carbocation number 1. Then, a hydride shift takes place to produce the carbocation number 2. A continuation, an elimination reaction takes place to produce the conjugated diene. Then the diene is protonated at the carbonyl group and with an elimination reaction of an hydrogen in the alpha carbon we can obtain carvacol.

The attraction between two oppositely charged atoms or group of atoms is which type of bond
Ber [7]

Answer:

ionic bond

An ionic bond is a type of chemical bond formed through an electrostatic attraction between two oppositely charged ions. Ionic bonds are formed between a cation, which is usually a metal, and an anion, which is usually a nonmetal. A covalent bond involves a pair of electrons being shared between atoms.

Consider the hydrocarbon below.
Ket [755]
It is an Alkene because it has a double bond, so it’ll have “ene” at the end. The simplest Alkene has 2 carbons.

2 carbons = “eth”

Look at that! Two carbons! It must be “ethene”

g n the following three compounds(1,2,3) arrange their relative reactivity towards the reagent CH3Cl / AlCl3. Justify your order
Sedbober [7]

Answer:

3 > 2> 1

Explanation:

Aromatic compounds undergo electrophilic substitution reaction which passes through a positively charged intermediate to yield the product.

Substituted benzenes may be more or less reactive towards electrophilic aromatic substitution than benzene molecule depending on the nature of the substituent.

Certain substituents increase the ease of reaction of benzene towards aromatic substitution.

If we look at the compounds closely, we will notice that toluene reacts readily with CH3Cl / AlCl3. This is because, the methyl group is electron donating hence it stabilizes the positively charged intermediate produced in the reaction.

Carbonyl compounds are electron withdrawing substituents hence they decrease the magnitude of the positive charge and hence decrease the rate of electrophilic aromatic substitution.
