Which description accurately represents how the use of biotechnology and Watson and Crick’s discovery helped change the field of

medicine?
(A) Watson and Crick discovered microorganisms. With today’s powerful microscopes, we are able to study microorganisms and how they cause illness or disease. Because of Watson and Crick's discovery and modern technology, many lives have been saved.

(B) Watson and Crick discovered x-rays. Today, we use what they discovered and build x-ray machines, CT Scanners, and PET scanners. These imaging devices transformed the diagnosis of disease. As a result, patients are receiving the treatment they need.

(C) Watson and Crick are credited with discovering the structure of DNA. Through the use of technology, we are able to use this information to diagnose genetic disorders.

(D) Watson and Crick discovered the microscope. With today’s understanding of complex engineering and ability to build medical devices, high-power microscopes scientists research and cure diseases.

How is HIV contracted, and what are the treatment options? (3 points)
kow [346]

Answer:

B). HIV is spread during unprotected sex or through contact with infected blood; it cannot be cured, but early treatment can minimise the long-term consequences.

Explanation:

HIV is an infection that is caused by human immunodeficiency virus. The virus spreads through contact with the infected bodily fluids such as semen, blood or vaginal fluids. Mostly people get infected due to unprotected sexual intercourse which results in transmission of infected bodily fluids during penal-vaginal contact. Another way of transmission of infection involves the sharing of the used needles obtained from the person infected with HIV.

Further explanation:

The HIV infection attacks the immune system of the host body. It destroys the white blood cells of the body, as a result of which body immune system becomes ineffective to fight against the virus. A doctor can diagnose the presence of HIV virus in the bodily fluids by detecting the presence of HIV antibodies in the saliva, urine and blood. As the virus hampers the immune system, the body becomes weak and susceptible to diseases. The late detection cannot save the patient, but earlier detection and confirmation of the condition can help in providing treatment. The antiretroviral therapy slows the rate at which the virus multiplies in the patient body and is a kind of earlier treatment process. The doctor also performs two tests for the routine diagnosis and detection of virus:

Viral load: It is done to show the amount of virus present in the blood.

CD4+ cell count: It gives indication of how well the patient immune system is working to fight against the virus.

liraira [26]

Explanation: Well, Insulin and glucagon are the hormones that cause blood glucose (blood sugar) preserved in a narrow range. The pancreas serves as the central part of this process. Secreted by the pancreas are both insulin and glucagon. Determined by the production of insulin and glucagon, people can find out whether someone may have diabetes,  hypoglycemia, low blood pressure, etc. Insulin or glucose can be prescribed to victims of those listed issues, so it's mostly used to balance out the level of glucagon and insulin to try to stop the problem.

sergeinik [125]
I believe Graham crackers with peanut butter, because when potato is baked, the fat oozes out of the potato, and the salsa may or may not have large amounts of salt and sugar.low fat potato chips might still have a lot of calories, even though, it's statement. ice cream has a lot of sugar.

but there are different types of peanut butter;, the natural, homemade, or processed. it's better to have homemade peanut butter
