Hello!

A 10-kg cart moving at 5 m/s collides with a 5-kg cart at rest and causes it to move 10 m/s. Which principle explains the result? A) law of differential mass B) law of conservation of momentum C) law of unequal forces D) law of accelerated collision

We have the following data¹:

ΔP (momentum before impact) = ?

mA (mass) = 10 kg

vA (velocity) = 5 m/s

mB (mass) = 5 kg

vB (velocity) = 0 m/s

Solving:

ΔP = mA*vA + mB*vB

ΔP = 10 kg*5 m/s + 5 kg*0 m/s

ΔP = 50 kg*m/s + 0 kg*m/s

Δp = 50 kg*m/s ← (momentum before impact)

We have the following data²:

ΔP (momentum after impact) = ?

mA (mass) = 10 kg

vA (velocity) = 0 m/s

mB (mass) = 5 kg

vB (velocity) = 10 m/s

Solving:

Δp = mA*vA + mB*vB

Δp = 10 kg*0 m/s + 5 kg*10 m/s

Δp = 0 kg*m/s + 50 kg*m/s

Δp = 50 kg*m/s ← (momentum after impact)

*** Then, which principle explains the result ?

Law of conservation of momentum, since the total momentum of body A and B before impact is equal to the total momentum of body A and B after impact.

Note: Bodies of different masses and velocities may have the same kinetic energy, if proportionality between the units is maintained it can occur that they have the same kinetic energy.

Answer:

B) law of conservation of momentum

What number and type of hybrid orbital(s) form(s) when one p and one s atomic orbital mix?
Harrizon [31]

Two equivalent hybridized orbitals will form from the mixing of one s-orbital and one p-orbital, that is (sp) orbital.

What are orbitals?

Orbital is the place around nucleus where mostly the electrons are present. There are four types of orbitals are present, s, p, d, and f.

The orbitals that are formed by the mixing of these orbitals are called hybrid orbitals.

Thus, two equivalent hybridized orbitals will form from the mixing of one s-orbital and one p-orbital, that is (sp) orbital.

Why aren't homes wired in series? A. Because it's too expensive. B. Parallel circuits are too complex for home wiring. O C. Beca
Liula [17]

Answer:

D. If a home were wired in series, every light and appliance would have to be turned on in order for any light or appliance to work.

Explanation:

In a series circuit, all the appliances are connected on the same branch of the circuit, one after the other. This means that the current flowing throught them is the same. However, this means also that if one of the appliance is turned off (so, its switch is open), that appliance breaks the circuit, so the current can no longer flow through the other appliances either.

On the contrary, when the appliances are connected in parallel, they are connected in different branches, so if one of them is switched off, the other branches continue working unaffacted by it.

A zero on the kelvin temperature scale is called “absolute zero.”
a. true
b. false
ryzh [129]
True.
A zero on the Kelvin temperature scale is also know as Absolute Zero because that is when the atom(s) have literally no kinetic energy.
