The conversation of cyclopropane to propene in the gas phase is a first order reaction with a rate constant of 6.7x10-⁴s-¹. a) i
Rus_ich [418]

Answer: a)  The concentration after 8.8min is 0.17 M

b) Time taken for the concentration of cyclopropane to decrease from 0.25M to 0.15M is 687 seconds.

Explanation:

Expression for rate law for first order kinetics is given by:

t=\frac{2.303}{k}\log\frac{a}{a-x}

where,

k = rate constant

t = age of sample

a = let initial amount of the reactant

a - x = amount left after decay process

a) concentration after 8.8 min:

8.8\times 60s=\frac{2.303}{6.7\times 10^{-4}s^{-1}}\log\frac{0.25}{a-x}

\log\frac{0.25}{a-x}=0.15

\frac{0.25}{a-x}=1.41

(a-x)=0.17M

b) for concentration to decrease from 0.25M to 0.15M

t=\frac{2.303}{6.7\times 10^{-4}s^{-1}}\log\frac{0.25}{0.15}\\\\t=\frac{2.303}{6.7\times 10^{-4}s^{-1}}\times 0.20

t=687s

At 35.0°c and 3.00 atm pressure, a gas has a volume of 1.40 l. what pressure does the gas have at 0.00°c and a volume of 0.950 l
Leona [35]

Answer : The pressure of gas will be, 3.918 atm and the combined gas law is used for this problem.

Solution :

Combined gas law is the combination of Boyle's law, Charles's law and Gay-Lussac's law.

The combined gas equation is,

\frac{P_1V_1}{T_1}=\frac{P_2V_2}{T_2}

where,

P_1 = initial pressure of gas = 3 atm

P_2 = final pressure of gas = ?

V_1 = initial volume of gas = 1.40 L

V_2 = final volume of gas = 0.950 L

T_1 = initial temperature of gas = 35^oC=273+35=308K

T_2 = final temperature of gas = 0^oC=273+0=273K

Now put all the given values in the above equation, we get the final pressure of gas.

\frac{3atm\times 1.40L}{308K}=\frac{P_2\times 0.950L}{273K}

P_2=3.918atm

Therefore, the pressure of gas will be, 3.918 atm and the combined gas law is used for this problem.

.One ballon is filled with Hydrogen (H2) gas, the other balloon is filled with methane (CH4). Both balloons have the same temper
Neko [114]

Answer:

C. The balloon with CH4 has the same moles of gas molecules as the balloon with H2

Explanation:

Based on combined gas law, gases under the same pressure, temperature and volume have the same number of moles. With this information we can say the rigth statement is:

<h3>C. The balloon with CH4 has the same moles of gas molecules as the balloon with H2</h3>
