Bromium has two naturally occurring isotopes: 79br, with an atomic weight of 78.918 amu, and 81br, with an atomic weight of 80.9

16 amu. if the average atomic weight for br is 79.903 amu, calculate the fraction-of-occurrences of these two isotopes. [hint: work on example problem 2.1]

The two different isotopes have weights :

w1 = 78.918 amu

w2 = 80.916 amu

average weight w3 = 79.903 amu

The mixing of two components can be modeled as

let the fraction of w1 be 'x'

hence w1. x + w2.(1-x)  = w3

now this is a linear equation in 'x'. Substituting the values we get

x = 0.507

hence the percentage of Br79 = 50.7% and the percentage of BR81 = 49.3%

A ball is thrown horizontally from the top of a 41 m vertical cliff and lands 112 m from the base of the cliff. How fast is the
yanalaym [24]

Answer:

4.78 second

Explanation:

given data

vertical cliff = 41 m

height = 112 m

solution

we know here time taken to fall vertically from the cliff =  time taken to move horizontally   ..........................1

so we use here vertical component of ball

and that is accelerated motion with initial velocity = 0

so we can solve for it as

height = 0.5 ×  g ×  t²     ........................2

put here value

112 = 0.5 ×  9.8 ×  t²

solve it we get

t²   = 22.857

t = 4.78 second

ball thrown horizontally from the top of the cliff in 4.78 second

Two parallel plates that are initially uncharged are separated by 1.2 mm. What charge must be transferred from one plate to the
Gnoma [55]

Answer: 55.52 *10^-6 C= 55.52 μC

Explanation: In order to solve this question we have to take into account the following expressions:

potential energy stired in a capacitor is given by:

U=Q^2/(2*C)  where Q and C are the charge and capacitance of the capacitor.

then we have:

Q^2= 2*C*U=

C=εo*A/d where A and d are the area and separation of the parallel plates capacitor

Q^2=2*εo*A*U/d=2*8.85*10^-12*1.9*10^-5*11*10^3/(1.2*10^-3)=

=55.52 *10^-6C

What are three effect of force
Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

1. Can change the state of an object(rest to motion/ motion to rest)

2. May change the speed of an object if it is already moving.

3. May change the direction of motion of an object.

Explanation: A force acting on an object causes the object to change its shape or size, to start moving, to stop moving, to accelerate or decelerate.

32. Only a small percentage of the energy
nordsb [41]
Only a small Percentage of the energy emitted by the sun strikes earth because, since the earth is going in circles round and round, the sun only hits part of the earth and not fully. So for example if the earth is going around and the sun hits Africa then in a couple minutes it will go to the next country and that country will have sunlight. Let me know if you need anything else or if this isn't partially correct. GLAD TO HELP! :)

A silica-rich igneous rock that has large crystals and makes up much of the continental crust is ________
Oxana [17]
A silica-rich igneous rock that has large crystals and makes up much of the continental crust is called granite. These rocks are usually pink, gray or white  in color depending on the minerals found on the rock. Generally, granite would have a range of 20% to 60% by volume of quartz and a minimum of 35% feldspar. This rock is a result from  volcanic arcs and from the collision of continental masses. Due to its abundance, it has been used in a number of applications. It is used as an aggregate and filler in roading and construction industries. It is also cut and polished to be used in foyers, building facings, bench counters and tops.
