I believe that it gives up electrons because it has one valence electron, but it would like to have eight. It is easier for it to give up one electron than get seven. I hope this helps!

Which of the highlighted carbon-oxygen bonds absorbs at a higher wavenumber in an IR spectrum?
skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

1. bond in the molecule on the right

Explanation:

CH3CH2-OH

The compound above is an alcohol due to the presence of the OH bond. The wave number of the C - O bond is given as; 1050-1150 cm^-1.

CH3CH__O

The compound above is an aldehyde due to the presence of the CHO bond. The wave number of the C = O  bond is given as; 1740-1720 cm^-1

Comparing both bonds, the C = O bond absorbs at a higher wave number.

Which phrase describes the molarity of a solution?
Elan Coil [88]
The answer is (3) moles of solute per liter of solution. That is what the definition of molarity of a solution means. The equation is concentration = mol number of solute/ volume of solution.

The first order reaction,so2cl2 to so2+cl2,has a half life of 8.75 hours at 593k.How long will it take for the concentration of
ASHA 777 [7]

Answer: The time after which the concentration of SO_2Cl_2 fall to 12.5% of its initial value is 26.2 hours

Explanation:

Expression for rate law for first order kinetics is given by:

t=\frac{2.303}{k}\log\frac{a}{a-x}

where,

k = rate constant

t = age of sample

a = let initial amount of the reactant  = 100

a - x = amount left after decay process  = 12.5

a) for completion of half life:

Half life is the amount of time taken by a radioactive material to decay to half of its original value.

t_{\frac{1}{2}}=\frac{0.693}{k}

k=\frac{0.693}{8.75hour}=0.0792hour^{-1}

b) for concentration to fall to 12.5 % of initial value

t=\frac{2.303}{0.0792}\log\frac{100}{12.5}

t=26.2hours

The time after which the concentration of SO_2Cl_2 fall to 12.5% of its initial value is 26.2 hours
