The most important thing in this problem is understanding and then dividing the given units properly. The first thing that is given is that the CD makes 58 1/2 revolutions in 3/4 minutes. We have to first simplify the number of revolutions made by the CD. This will make the problem in hand very easy.
Number of revolutions made by the CD = 58 1/2
                                                               = 117/2
Then
The unit rate = (117/2)/(3/4)
                     = (117 * 4)/(2 * 3)
                     = (117 * 2)/3
                     = 39 * 2
                     78
So the unit rate is 78 revolutions per minute.

78 revolutions per minute 58.5 I divided it by 3 to get 19.5 Then multiplied 19.5 by 4 to get the amount of rotations in a minute

Wo cards are drawn without replacement from standard deck of 52 cards. What is the probability that the first card is a club and
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

"13 / 204 ; No, they are dependent events "

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability of getting a club at first throw is simply total number of clubs divided by total number of cards in the deck.

Total clubs is 13

Total cards in deck is 52

Hence, P(clubs) = \frac{13}{52}

<em>Since the first card IS NOT replaced, the deck has now 51 cards. We want probability of diamond. There are still 13 diamonds, so probability of diamond now would be 13/51</em>

<em />

Hence, Probability that first card is a club and the second card is a diamond should be 13/52 MULTIPLIED by 13/51

P(1st Club, 2nd Diamond) = \frac{13}{52}*\frac{13}{51}=\frac{13}{204}

<u></u>

<u>Note: </u>They are dependent events since we are calculating probability without replacement. The first draw affected the total number of cards in the 2nd draw.

2nd answer choice is right.

ites A &amp; Bare 5 inches apart on a map. Cities &amp; Dare 4 inches apart. If C&amp;D are 900 miles apart how many miles apart
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:

<u>Cities A and B are 1,125 miles apart</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Let's review the information given to us to answer the question correctly:

Distance between A and B in the map = 5 inches

Distance between C and D in the map = 4 inches

Actual distance between C and D = 900 miles

2. How many miles apart are cities A and B?

We will solve the question, using Direct Rule of Three, as follows:

Distance in the map      Actual distance

A - B      5 inches                    x

C - D      4 inches                900 miles

***************************************************

4x = 900 * 5

4x = 4,500

x = 4,500/4

x = 1,125 miles

<u>Cities A and B are 1,125 miles apart</u>

Customers arrive at a movie theater at the advertised movie time only to find that they have to sit through several previews and
balu736 [363]

Answer:

(a) The sample size required is 43.

(b) The sample size required is 62.

Step-by-step explanation:

The (1 - α) % confidence interval for population mean is:

 CI=\bar x\pm z_{\alpha/2}\ \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

The margin of error for this interval is:

 MOE=z_{\alpha/2}\ \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

(a)

The information provided is:

<em>σ</em> = 4 minutes

MOE = 72 seconds = 1.2 minutes

Confidence level = 95%

α = 5%

Compute the critical value of z for α = 5% as follows:

 z_{\alpha/2}=z_{0.05/2}=z_{0.025}=1.96

*Use a z-table.

Compute the sample size required as follows:

 MOE=z_{\alpha/2}\ \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

       n=[\frac{z_{\alpha/2}\times \sigma}{MOE} ]^{2}

          =[\frac{1.96\times 4}{1.2}]^{2}\\\\=42.684\\\\\approx 43

Thus, the sample size required is 43.

(b)

The information provided is:

<em>σ</em> = 4 minutes

MOE = 1 minute

Confidence level = 95%

α = 5%

Compute the critical value of z for α = 5% as follows:

 z_{\alpha/2}=z_{0.05/2}=z_{0.025}=1.96

*Use a z-table.

Compute the sample size required as follows:

 MOE=z_{\alpha/2}\ \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

       n=[\frac{z_{\alpha/2}\times \sigma}{MOE} ]^{2}

          =[\frac{1.96\times 4}{1}]^{2}\\\\=61.4656\\\\\approx 62

Thus, the sample size required is 62.
