Answer:

As ice melts into water, kinetic energy is being added to the particles. This causes them to be 'excited' and they break the bonds that hold them together as a solid, resulting in a change of state: solid -> liquid.

Explanation:

As we may know, the change in state of an object is due to the change in the average kinetic energy of the particles.

This average kinetic energy is proportional to the temperature of the particles.

This is because heat is a form of energy; by adding energy to ice - heat, you "excite" the water molecules, breaking the interactions in the lattice structure and forming weaker, looser hydrogen-bonding interactions.

This causes the ice to melt. This is demonstrated in the image below.

More generally, when you remove energy - the object cools down, the particles move a lot slower. So slow, that they individually attract other molecules more than before, and this results in a physical change that also changes the state.

A frame hanging on a wall is held by two cables. The tension in each cable is 30 N, and the cables make an angle of 45° with the
Vesna [10]

Answer:

(D) 42.4N

Explanation:

Since the frame is at rest, the net force acting on it must be 0. There are three forces acting on it: the gravity and the opposing forces of the two cables.

Since the gravity is a vertical force, we are only interested in the vertical components of the remaining forces. The net force equation is

F_net = 0 = F_g -2 * F_y

The vertical force of one cable (using the information in the drawing) is:

F_y = 30N * sin 45 deg = 21.21N

Now the weight can be determined:

0 = F_g - 2 * F_y

F_g= 2 * F_y = 2 * 21.21N = 42.4N

The weight of the frame is about 42.4N.

Explain an experiment of the phenomenon of rainfall
maks197457 [2]

Unclear/incomplete question. However, I inferred you need an explanation of the phenomenon of rainfall.

<u>Explanation</u>:

Basically, the phenomenon of rainfall follows a natural cycle called the water cycle. What we call <em>'rainfall'</em> occurs when water condensed (in liquid form) in the atmosphere is made to fall down on the ground as tiny droplets as a result of the forces of gravity.

<u>The water cycle makes rainfall possible:</u>

  • First, water on the earth's surface is evaporated (or is absorbed into) the atmosphere.
  • Next, it then condensed into liquid form; which later falls to the surface to the ground again. And the process continues.

During which changes of state do atoms overcome the attractive forces between them?
prohojiy [21]
Atoms overcome the attractive forces between them through vaporization and sublimation .in vaporization the atoms are from gas to liquid while in sublimation it is from solid to gas which skips liquid state.through this the attractive force of the atoms does not meet in the liquid state because sublimation does not undergo in liquid phase. hope this help

Alchen [17]

Explanation:

Experiments needs to be as accurate and precise as possible. Accuracy and precision helps to keep errors within reasonable limits as they are unavoidable.

How do can we now obtain an accurate and precise result?

After checking that all sources of errors are kept at bay and the procedures perfectly matches the hypothesis being test, it is best to repeat the experiment a few number of times.

Repeating an experiment is scientifically permitted as it helps to eliminate error to a reasonable extent.

Repeating an experiment will also help to authenticate Mitchell's claim and provide a confidence limit to draw a sound conclusion from.

From the repeated results, some statistical parameters that further provide solid backing for the hypothesis being tested will surface.

One of the key attribute of a hypothesis to be acceptable as being valid is that it must be repeatable.
