Silicon, Arsenic, and Tellurium all sit on the metal/nonmetal boundary

Magnesium, Strontium, and Barium are in the same group (Group 2)

Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Flourine are all non-metals in the same period

Calcium, Caesium, and Copper start with the same letter

So (3) Mg, Sr and Ba is the correct answer

Elements in the same group have simimlar chemical properties due to their identical valence electron shells. Since it is mainly the valence shell involved in chemical reactions, chemical properties tend to depend heavily on valence shell electron configuration. That is why the elements in choice 3) have the most similar chemical properties.

Which of the following are always larger than the neutral atoms from which they are formed?
frosja888 [35]
A. positive ions : Positive ions are formed when a neutral atom loses electrons. When neutral atoms lose electrons, the ions formed are always smaller than the neutral atoms.

B. negative ions : Yes. When the neutral atoms gain electrons to form negative ions, they always become larger, because the addition of one electron increases the electrostatic repulsion of the outermost electrons, forcing them to drift apart.

C. cations No. Cation is the same that positive ion.

D. none of the above

Not easily changed
Advocard [28]
I would say when an atom has its valence electron shell filled like a noble gas has, it is not easily changed.

I’m not entirely sure of what you’re asking, but if you’re talking about bonding then it would be an ionic bond that is not easily changed.
