What are the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing radicals?

Mathematics

Answer:

√m + √m = √2m  ( CANNOT ADD  √m + √n)

√m - √m = 0      ( CANNOT SUBTRACT  √m + √n)

√m x √n = √mn

\implies \frac{\sqrt{m}}{\sqrt{n}}  =\sqrt{ \frac{m}{n}}

Step-by-step explanation:

A number m which if in the ROOT form is called a RADICAL.

Example : √2, ∛8, √6 .. etc.

Here, the number Inside the root is called RADICAND.

Also, the number Outside the root is called INDEX.

<u>ADDITION OF RADICALS:</u>

The number that is under the radical must be the same for each radical in order to add two radicals.

⇒ We CAN add √3 and √3  but  CANNOT add √3 and √5.

<u>SUBTRACTING  OF RADICALS:</u>

The number that is under the radical must be the same for each radical in order to subtract two radicals.

⇒ We CAN Subtract √3 from √3  but  CANNOT subtract √3 from √5.

<u>MULTIPLICATION OF RADICALS:</u>

To multiply any two radicals, simply MULTIPLY The NUMBERS inside the radical.

⇒√m x √n = √mn

<u>DIVISION OF RADICALS:</u>

To divide any two radicals, simply DIVIDE The NUMBERS inside the radical.

\implies \frac{\sqrt{m}}{\sqrt{n}}  =\sqrt{ \frac{m}{n}}

Illusion [34]

Answer:

19)  ( \frac{-2}{5})^2 = \frac{4}{25}

20) -9^{2} = -81

21)  2^{4} = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

The only wrong ones are

19)  ( \frac{-2}{5})^2 = \frac{4}{25}

20) -9^{2} = -81 ... negative is not inside a parenthesis that's why it is still negative

21) you can add another way is 2^{4} = 16

Everything else looks good.  Great job!

Use the table to determine the degree of the power function.
valkas [14]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  3

Step-by-step explanation:

The x-values in the table are evenly-spaced, so we can determine the degree of the function by looking at successive differences of the f(x) terms.

f(x): -23, -4, 3, 4, 5, 12, 31

first differences: 19, 7, 1, 1, 7, 19

second differences: -12, -6, 0, 6, 12

third differences: 6, 6, 6, 6

The third differences are constant, so the function values can be matched by a <em>third degree</em> polynomial.

_____

<em>Additional comment</em>

The first differences are found by subtracting the function value from the next one. Likewise, the second differences are found by subtracting each first-difference value from the next one. An so on for the third differences.

The level at which the differences are constant is the degree of the polynomial that will match the function values. (Compare this to what you know about an arithmetic sequence, where first differences are constant and the sequence is described by a linear (degree 1) equation.)

What will the finance charge be on Hannah's computer purchase? (Do not include<br> sales tax)
k0ka [10]

Answer:

She would be paying $2,622 total.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. To get how much she'd be paying for 24 months, all you have to do is multiply 24 times 95.

2. To get the down payment you had to ask yourself what's 15% of 2,280. 15% of 2280 is 342.

3. Add those together and you'd get the total payment.

Simple.

Oh and gimme Brainliest if it's correct.
