A physics major is working to pay his college tuition by performing in a traveling carnival. He rides a motorcycle inside a holl

ow transparent plastic sphere. After gaining sufficient speed, he travels in a vertical circle with a radius of 14.6 m . The physics major has a mass of 70.0 kg , and his motorcycle has a mass of 40.0 kg. (a) What minimum speed must he have at the top of thecircle if the tires of the motorcycle are not to lose contact withthe sphere?
m/s
(b) At the bottom of the circle, his speed is twice the valuecalculated in part (a). What is the magnitude of the normal forceexerted on the motorcycle by the sphere at this point?

Answer:

a) v=23.9 m/s

b) R=2646 N

Explanation:

According to Newton's second law the net force at the top is given by

∑F=-m*ac

according to

a_{c}=\frac{v^2}{r}

∑F=-m*\frac{v^2}{r}

a).

To lose contact this means that R=0 so the final equation is

R-m*g=-m*\frac{v^2}{r}

-m*g=-m*\frac{v^2}{r}

Solve to v

v^2=g*r

v=\sqrt{g*r}=\sqrt{9.8*14.6}

v=11.96\frac{m}{s}

b).

v is the twice of part a so

v=2*11.96

v=23.9\frac{m}{s}

R_{m}-m_{m}*g-m_{p}=m*\frac{v^2}{r}

Solve to Rm

R_{m}=m*\frac{v^2}{r}+(m_{m}+m_{p})*g

R_{m}=m*\frac{23.9^2}{14.6}+(40+70)*9.8

R_{m}=2646 N

A 6.0 m section of wire carries a current of 5.2 A from east to west in the earth's magnetic field of 1.0 × 105 T at a location
NNADVOKAT [17]
Well, since you only want direction, ignore the numbers. Use the right hand rule.
Current (pointer finger) points west (left).
Magnetic field (middle finger) points south (towards you).
Force (thumb) then points up (away from the earth)

shutvik [7]

Answer:

t = 0.051 seconds

Explanation:

Given that,

A skydiver jumped out of a plane and fell 9 miles to the ground. It means 9 miles is the distance covered.

The average speed of the skydiver is 174 miles/hour

We need to find the time for which he dive last. It means t is the time taken. Total distance covered divided by time taken is called average speed. So,

v=\dfrac{d}{t}\\\\t=\dfrac{d}{v}\\\\t=\dfrac{9}{174}\\\\t=0.051\ s

So, a skydiver dive for 0.051 seconds.

A Carnot heat engine uses a hot reservoir consisting of a large amount of boiling water and a cold reservoir consisting of a lar
kakasveta [241]

Answer:

W=4037.36\ J

Explanation:

Given:

mass of ice melted, m=3.3\times10^{-2}\ kg

time taken by the ice to melt, t=5\ min=300\ s

latent heat of the ice, L=3.34\times 10^5\ J

Now the heat rejected by the Carnot engine:

Q_R=m.L

Q_R=0.033\times 3.34\times 10^5

Q_R=11022\ J

Since we have boiling water as hot reservoir so:

T_H=373\ K

The cold reservoir is ice, so:

T_L=273\ K

Now the efficiency:

\eta=1-\frac{T_L}{T_H}

\eta=1-\frac{273}{373}

\eta=26.81\%

Now form the law of energy conservation:

Heat supplied:

Q_S-W=Q_R

where:

Q_S= heat supplied to the engine

Q_S-\eta\times Q_S=Q_R

Q_S(1-\eta)=Q_R

Q_S=\frac{11022}{1-0.2681}

Q_S=15059.36\ J

Now the work done:

W=Q_S-Q_R

W=15059.36-11022

W=4037.36\ J
