So, We know that two airplanes leave the same airport.
One goes north.
The north airplane has traveled 44 miles?

North:(44m/ph)
East:(?)

So we know that they're 55 miles apart.

Which this makes the question pretty easy to solve.

Well only if you understand it.

North:(44m/ph)

East:(55m/ph ahead of 44m/ph)
55 + 44 = 99m/ph

Now we know that the East plane has traveled 99 miles.
We found out this by adding 55 miles to the 44 miles that the north plane had traveled. The reason of this work is because we know that the East plane is 55 miles apart from the north plane. Then it got easy, all we needed to do is add 55 to 44. Which got us the answer of 99 miles.

Answer: (99m/ph)___(99 miles)

A student's pay of $18 an hour is $4 more than twice the amount the student earns per hour at an internship. Enter and solve an
Natasha2012 [34]
1. You have that a student's pay of $18 an hour is $4 more than twice the amount the student earns per hour at an internship.

2. So, let's call the hourly pay of the internship: "x". Then, you have:

18=2x+4

3. When you clear the variable "x", you obtain:

18-4=2x
14=2x
x=14/2
x=$7

Therefore, the answer is: The hourly pay of the internship is $7.

(x + 5 1/2) 0.75= 5/8 What is x?
swat32
(x + 5 1/2) 0.75= 5/8
Convert 0.75 into a fraction
(x + 5 1/2) 3/4= 5/8
Use distributive property
3/4x + 5 1/2*3/4 = 5/8
Convert 5 1/2 into improper fraction
3/4x + 11/2*3/4 = 5/8
Multiply
3/4x + 33/8 = 5/8
Subtract 33/8 from both sides
3/4x = 5/8 - 33/8
Subtract the numerators but NOT the denominators
3/4x = -28/8
Divide 3/4 on both sides
x = -28/8 divided by 3/4
Convert the division sign to multiplication while flipping the fraction 3/4 to 4/3
x = -28/8 * 4/3
Multiply
Final Answer: x = -112/24 or -4 16/24 or -4 4/6 or -4 2/3 *All answers are equivalent to each other.
