In a longitudinal wave the particle displacement is parallel to the direction of wave propagation. The animation at right shows a one-dimensional longitudinal plane wave propagating down a tube. The particles do not move down the tube with the wave; they simply oscillate back and forth about their individual equilibrium positions. Pick a single particle and watch its motion. The wave is seen as the motion of the compressed region (ie, it is a pressure wave), which moves from left to right.The second animation at right shows the difference between the oscillatory motion of individual particles and the propagation of the wave through the medium. The animation also identifies the regions of compression and rarefaction.<span>The P Waves(primary waves) in an earthquake are examples of Longitudinal waves. The P waves travel with the fastest velocity and are the first to arrive.

Why can't theories become laws?
shtirl [24]

Since each serves a different purpose, theories cannot become laws. Explaining how or why a natural phenomenon occurs is what the set of ideas called theories do. On the other hand, mathematical relationships that describes what happens are what is done by laws.

Let me show an example that illustrates the points. Describing what happens in the natural world are done by the mathematical formulas called the Gas Laws. In this example, it would show that by using the Gas Laws, I will be able to predict with great accuracy the pressure if I double the temperature of a sealed gas. This idea is a law since the relationship is mathematical and it tells us what will happen.

<span>On the other hand, in order to explain why gases behave like the way they do, we must use the kinetic molecular theory.</span>

Which of the following is the best name for a compound made from calcium and bromine? (CaBr2) calcium bromide calcium dibromide
8_murik_8 [283]

By definition, we have to:

Calcium Bromide is an inorganic salt formed by granular white crystals that responds to the formula CaBr2.

Calcium bromide has no odor, is colorless and has a bitter taste.

It is obtained by adding Hydrobromic Acid to Calcium Oxide, Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Hydroxide.

The substance that results is then subjected to a crystallization process, which involves evaporating the water.

From here, you get then:

CaBr2.

Answer:

CaBr2 = Calcium bromide.

If half of the weight of a flatbed truck is supported by its two drive wheels, what is the maximum acceleration it can achieve o
Scilla [17]

Answer:

Maximum acceleration will be equal to 3.43m/sec^2

Explanation:

We have given coefficient of kinetic friction \mu _k=0.7

And coefficient of static friction \mu _s=1

Acceleration due to gravity g=9.8m/sec^2

When truck moves maximum force will be equal to F=\mu _kmg

It is given that half of the weight is supported by its drive wheels

So force required =\frac{\mu _kmg}{2}

From newtons law maximum acceleration will be equal to a=\frac{\frac{\mu _kmg}{2}}{m}=\frac{\mu _kg}{2}=\frac{0.7\times 9.8}{2}=3.43m/sec^2
