Complete question:

On a hot summer day, the density of air at atmospheric pressure at 35.5°C is 1.1970 kg/m3. (a) What is the number of moles contained in 1.00 m3 of an ideal gas at this temperature and pressure.

Answer:

The  number of moles contained by an ideal gas at this temperature and pressure is 41.32 moles.

Explanation:

Given;

density of dry air, ρ = 1.1970 kg/m³

temperature of the air, T = 35.5°C  = 273 + 35.5 = 308.5 K

air volume, V = 1 m³

Apply ideal gas law for dry to calculate the air pressure;

P = \rho R_dT

where;

P is the air pressure

ρ is the air density

Rd is gas constant for dry air = 287 J/kg/K

P = 1.197 x 287 x 308.5 = 105,981.78 Pa

(a) Now, determine the number of moles contained by an ideal gas at this temperature and pressure, by applying ideal gas law;

PV = nRT

where;

P is the pressure of the gas (Pa)

V is the volume of the gas (m³)

n is number of gas moles

R is gas constant = 8.314 m³.Pa / mol.K

T is temperature (K)

n = (PV) / (RT)

n = (105,981.78 x 1) / (8.314 x 308.5)

n = 41.32 moles

Therefore, the  number of moles contained by an ideal gas at this temperature and pressure is 41.32 moles.

How does adding an atom affect the position of existing atoms or lone pairs?
Paha777 [63]

Adding an atom will increase the repulsion between existing atoms and lone pairs. Added atom will result in bond pair-bond pair and bond pair-lone pair repulsion. The magnitude of the lone pair-bond pair repulsion is greater than the bond pair-bond pair repulsion. The added atom will change the electron geometry and bring about a distortion in the molecular geometry.

Based on the law of conservation of mass, which of the following statements is correct? Matter is neither created nor destroyed.
Dmitrij [34]

The first statement (Matter is neither created nor destroyed) is correct.

The second statement would violate the law of conservation of mass (I will refer to this as LCM), as it would mean matter can "flow" into the universe, but not out, meaning the total matter will never be less than it was before.

The third statement violates LCM because it means matter is created during a reaction, which is not true.

The last statement violates LCM because it means matter is lost during a reaction, which is not true.

What is the oxidation state of each element in the species Mn(ClO4)3? I'm going over oxi-redox reactions from a long time ago an
MA_775_DIABLO [31]
The following are the answers:
 =oxygen  equals to a charge of 2-
number of atoms is -24
=Mn equals to the charge of +3
Mn=  3+3x-24=0
let x be the charge of Cl, so:
23-3=3x
20/3=x
=6.67 or 7
x= 7
= Cl has a charge of +7
