No work was done. If you push hard against a wall, you will eventually get very tired, but you will not do any work unless you actually move the wall in the direction you are pushing.

On the day of the vernal equinox, the day length for all places on Earth is actually slightly longer than 12 hours. Explain why.
nekit [7.7K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Equinox is referred as the time when Earth's equator passes the Sun's center.

At equinox, day and night length is same which is of 12 hours but it does not happen like this. Day time is slightly longer than 12 hours because of the refraction of Sun's light on Earth's surface.

Earth's atmosphere refracts sunlight that causes the Sun's upper brim to be visible from Earth's horizon even though when the Sun does not reaches the horizon. This time from sun rise and sun sets adds extra minutes to the 12 hours of the day thus making day longer even at vernal equinox.

A magnifier has a magnification of 8 x. How far from the lens should an object be placed so that it’s virtual image is at the ne
larisa86 [58]

The distance of the object from the lens is 3.12 cm.

<h3>What is magnification?</h3>

Magnification is the process of of enlarging an apparent size of an object.

<h3>Object distance</h3>

The object distance is calculated using the following lens formula;

M = \frac{V}{U}

where;

  • M is the magnification
  • V is the image distance
  • U is object distance

- 8 = \frac{-25}{U} \\\\U = \frac{-25}{-8} \\\\U = 3.12 \ cm

Thus, the distance of the object from the lens is 3.12 cm.

What process is occurring during section "B" of the graph?
trasher [3.6K]
According to the graph the substance is absorbing heat but it's temperature is remaining steady at 100 degrees C. So we know that the substance is changing state. It is evaporating. And most likely the substance is water.

A sledge is pulled in a straight line by dogs, as shown. The dogs produce a total horizontal driving force of 600 N. The frictio
kifflom [539]

Answer:

F = 0 N

Explanation:

The direction of air resistance and frictional force will be same and opposite to the direction of the driving fore of dogs. Therefore, the resultant force can be given as follows:

resultant\ Force = F = Driving\ Force\ of\ Dogs - Frictional\ Force - Air\ Resistive\ Forcehere,

driving force of dogs = 600 N

Frictional Force = 150 N

Resultant Force = 450 N

Therefore,

F = 600\ N - 150\ N- 450\ N

<u>F = 0 N</u>

A series RL circuit with L = 3.00 H and a series RC circuit with C = 3.00 F have equal time constants. If the two circuits conta
Tems11 [23]

Answer:

(a) R = 1Ω

(b) τ = 3

Explanation:

The time constants of the given circuits are as follows

\tau_{RL} = \frac{L}{R}\\\tau_{RC} = RC

If the two circuits have equal time constants, then

\frac{L}{R} = RC\\R^2 = \frac{L}{C} = \frac{3}{3} = 1\\R = 1\Omega

Therefore, the time constant in any of the circuits is

\tau = RC = 3
