Hi there.

We know that the cost of 2 bags is $4, which can be modeled as 2n.

All we need to do is replace the variable with the number of bags.

2 \times 1 = 2
The cost of 1 bag is $2.

Hope this was correct, lol.

the answer is $2 because if 2 bags cost $4 then you just skip count by 2 once and there you will get your answer :)

What is 3 square root of 125x12?
AlekseyPX

Hi!

Square roots where the things under the root are multiplied (for example \sqrt{xy}) can be split up into \sqrt{x} * \sqrt{y}.

That's what I'm going to do in this case. I'm going to split \sqrt[3]{125x^{12}} into \sqrt[3]{125} * \sqrt[3]{x^{12}}

Now, the cube root of 125 is 5, because 5 * 5 * 5 = 125, and that is the definition of a cube root. (What multiplied 3 times by itself is equal to what's under the root)

Now to look at what the cube root of x^{12} is.

A cube root can be rewritten as x^{\frac{1}{3}}, same as a square root can be rewritten to x^{\frac{1}{2}}.

So if you take the cube root of x^12, you can change it to:

(x^{12} )^{1/3}

If you have a case like this, then you can multiply the two powers (in this case 12 and 1/3) to simplify it. 12 * 1/3 = 4, so you get x^4.

Now putting the two together, you get:

5x^{4} as your answer.

Hope this helped!

Jake opens a credit card with 18% annual interest compounded monthly. If he charges $800 on the card and never pays it off, how
Makovka662 [10]
<h3>Answer:  $1,143.60</h3>

Work Shown:

A = P*(1+r/n)^(n*t)

A = 800*(1+0.18/12)^(12*2)

A = 1,143.60224954321

A = 1,143.60

Notes:

  • P = 800 is the principal. It is the amount loaned to Jake.
  • r = 0.18 is the decimal form of the 18% interest rate
  • n = 12 because we're compounding monthly, i.e. 12 times a year
  • t = 2 = number of years
