A protein has a binding site for a single ligand with a A.G-16.7 KJ/mol at 298 K. What is Keg for this reaction?

Chemistry

Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

          \Delta_{r} G = -16.7 kJ/mol = -16.7 \times 10^{3},       T = 298 K

          R = 8.314 J/mol K,       K_{eq} = ?

Relation between \Delta_{r} G and K_{eq} is as follows.

                \Delta_{r} G = -RT ln K_{eq}

Hence, putting the values into the above equation as follows.

                \Delta_{r} G = -RT ln K_{eq}

                        -16.7 \times 10^{3} J/mol = -8.314 J/mol K \times 298 K ln K_{eq}

                     ln K_{eq} = \frac{-16.7 \times 10^{3} J/mol}{-8.314 J/mol K \times 298 K}

                                         = 6.740

                            K_{eq} = antilog (6.740)

                                            = 846

Thus, we can conclude that K_{eq} for given values is 846.

Need help !!!!! Stuck
Leya [2.2K]
<h2>Hello!</h2>

The answer is:

The new pressure will be equal to 6 atm.

P_{2}=6atm

<h2>Why?</h2>

Since we know that the temperature is constant, we can use the Boyle's Law to solve the problem.

The Boyle's Law establishes that when the temperature is kept constant, the pressure and the volume will be proportional.

So, we have the equation:

P_{1}V_{1}=P_{2}V_{2}

We are given,

P_{1}=2atm\\V_{1}=150mL\\V_{2}=50mL

Substituting and isolating P_{2} from the Boyle's Law, we have:

P_{1}V_{1}=P_{2}V_{2}\\\\P_{2}=\frac{P_{1}V_{1}}{V_{2}}\\\\P_{2}=\frac{2atm*150mL}{50mL}=6atm

Hence, the new pressure will be equal to 6 atm.

P_{2}=6atm

Have a nice day!

A student is adding DI water to a volumetric flask to make a 50% solution. Unfortunately, he was not paying attention and filled
dalvyx [7]

Answer:

His results will be skewed because there was more water than stock solution. Which would cause the percentage solution to be less than 50% therefore the density would be less than the actual value.

Explanation:

The solution will have percentage less than that of 50%. Therefore the density would be less than the actual value.

Suppose there should be 50 mL of the solution, and he added 60 mL. So 10 mL of the solution is added more.

Suppose the mass of the solute is m.

Originally, the density is = $\frac{m}{50}$     \left(\frac{\text{mass}}{\text{volume}}\right)

Now after adding extra 10 mL , the density becomes $\frac{m}{60}$.

Therefore, $\frac{m}{50}>\frac{m}{60}$

So the density decreases when we add more solution.
