The inflammation of the tendons that connect bones to muscles is called tendinitis.

The skeletal system is the system that provides shape, structure, protection to the body. It also plays a major part in maintaining of the electrolyte balance of the body. The blood cell lineages are also produced by the hematopoietic cells present in the bone marrow of the bones.

Tendons are also the fibrous connective tissues that connects bone to the muscle. The property to withstand tension is the characteristic feature of a tendon.The tendinitis is the inflammation and irritation of the tendons. Tenderness near the joints is the characteristic feature of the tendinitis. The tendinitis is common in the areas like, wrists, shoulders, heels, knees and elbows.  

This disease is the result ofsudden injury, repetition of a particular movement over time etc. Tendon rupture is possible if this disease is not left untreated. Cross-training, stretching, avoiding activities that involves stress can be helpful preventive measures for the disease.
