Answer:

porosity=23.07%

x=5.974*10^9cm^3

Explanation:

One liter of oven-dry soil sampled from the Chorro Creek Ranch field requires 300 g of water to completely saturate it.

Calculate (a) its porosity, n, and (b) the volume of water required to saturate the top 20 cm of 1 hectare of the field.

-Porosity of a soil sample can be calculated in five ways but i shall use the formula below

porosity=\frac{volume of pore}{volume of total} *100%%

volume  pore volume of sample is equal to water volume used to saturate the soil

total volume=sample volume +pore volume

1L=1000cm^3

density of water=density=mass/volume

1g/cm^3=300g/volume

vol=300cm^3

total volume=300+1000

1300

porosity =(300/1300)*100%

porosity=23.07%

2. Recall that volume=area *height

1 hectare=1*10^9cm^2

the volume of soil sample=1*10^9cm^2*20cm

2*10^10cm^3

porosity=\frac{x}{x+2*10^{10} } *100%%

23%=x/(x+2*10^10)*100%

x=5.974*10^9cm^3

What does a peak flow meter allow you to assess?
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

  peak flow and any engineering considerations related thereto

Explanation:

It should be no surprise that a peak flow meter will report peak flow, sometimes with important maximum-value, time-constant, or bandwidth limitations. There are many engineering issues related to flow rates. A peak flow meter can allow you to assess those issues with respect to the flows actually encountered.

Peak flow can allow you to assess adequacy of flow and whether there may be blockages or impediments to flow that reduce peak levels below expected values. An appropriate peak flow meter can help you assess the length of time that peak flow can be maintained, and whether that delivers sufficient volume.

It can also allow you to assess whether appropriate accommodation is made for unexpectedly high flow rates. (Are buffers or overflow tanks of sufficient size? Is there adequate protection against possible erosion? Is there adequate support where flow changes direction?)

Technician A says that 18 gauge AWG wire can carry more current flow that 12 gauge AWG wire. Technician B says that metric wire
denpristay [2]

Answer:

Technician B

Explanation:

Both AWG and metric are sized by cross-sectional area.

Technician A is wrong:  12 gauge wire is larger diameter rated for 20 amps in free air.  18 awg is smaller diameter and typically used for speaker wiring, Class II or low voltage and sub-circuits within appliances.

Why are you asked to draw a sketch of a Bridge-Design on a graph sheet/A4 sheet?
elena-s [515]

Engineers or architects can be asked to draw a sketch of a bridge-design on a graph sheet or A4 paper to communicate their ideas and scale their drawings.

Architectural sketches are about the communication of ideas. Engineers and architects use hand sketching to clarify elements of the design to the contractor or client.

It should be noted that drawings can also be drawn on a graph sheet or A4 paper to represent the detail before it's eventually constructed.

Scale drawings are used for the illustration of items that are not convenient to draw their actual size. In the construction industry, scales are used depending on the nature of the drawing. Drawings can be made on a graph or A4 paper due to the ease of printing, reproducing, and resizing the drawings.
