A company is looking to design a new cover for their smartphone. The scale drawing of the design is shown below. The coordinates

of the actual cover are: W' (6, 0); X' (0, 0); Y' (0, 12); Z' (6,12). Is the design of the cover similar to the actual cover?

Answer: Not similar

Step-by-step explanation:

From the given graph, by using distance formula

For figure WXYZ with coordinates W(2,0), X(0,0), Y(0,3) and Z(2,3)

Since, YX is on y axis, then length of YX=|3-0|=3\ units

Similarly, WX is on x axis, then length of WX=|2-0|=2

Now, for W'X'Y'Z' with coordinates W' (6, 0); X' (0, 0); Y' (0, 12); Z' (6,12), the length of W'X'=\sqrt{(6-0)^2+(0)^2}=6\ units

The length of Y'X'=\sqrt{(0)^2+(0-12)^2}=12\ units

We know that if two figures are similar then their corresponding sides are proportional.

Now, \frac{YX}{Y'X'}=\frac{3}{12}=\frac{1}{4}

\frac{WX}{W'X'}=\frac{2}{6}=\frac{1}{3}

But, \frac{1}{4}\neq\frac{1}{3},

Hence they are not proportional so they are not similar.

What makes apparent magnitude different from absolute brightness? Give an example in your response.
Lapatulllka [165]
Apparent magnitude isn’t the actual brightness, it’s what the brightness appears to be from earth, absolute brightness is the actual brightness an example is our sun it appears bright on earth but in space it is so much more brighter

What is the x of 2/3x squared minus 6x plus 15
iogann1982 [59]
(2/3)x^2 -6x + 15 = 0
Using the quadratic formula:
x = [-b +-sq root(b^2 - 4 *a*c)] / 2a
x= [--6 +-sq root(36 -4*(2/3)*15] / 2*(2/3)
x= [6 +-sq root 36 -40] / (4/3)

x1 = 4.5 + (2i / (4/3))
x1 = 4.5 + 1.5i
x2 = 4.5 - (2i / (4/3))
x2 = 4.5 - 1.5i

Put the equation in standard form y=-4/5x+2
sp2606 [1]

Answer:

4x +5y = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Standard form of an equation is Ax +By = C

y=-4/5x+2

Add 4/5 x to each side

4/5 x +y=-4/5x+ 4/5x+2

4/5 x + y = 2

Now we don't have fractions in A ,B  or C

So Multiply by 5

5(4/5 x + y) = 2*5

Distribute

4x +5y = 10
