First, what you have to do, is make like denominators of 2/3 and 3/4.

That leaves you with 8/12 and 9/12.

Now, you add those up to get 17/12.

Your answer as a mixed number: 1 5/12
Your answer as a an improper fraction: 17/12
Your answer as a decimal: 1.4166666....

Hope this Helps!

The amount of liters of beverages Sam bring to the party is 1\frac{5}{12}

  • Amount of liter of punch = \frac{2}{3}
  • Amount of liter of tea = \frac{3}{4}
<h2>Further Explanation</h2>

To determine the total amount of liters of beverages Sam bring to the party, the amount of liter of punch ( \frac{2}{3} ) will be added to the amount of liter of tea ( \frac{3}{4} ) he made. The derived value is the total amount he brings to the party.

Recall, both values to be added are fraction, hence, the lowest common denominator (LCD) of both denominators (3 and 4) needs to be known.

LCD of 3 and 4 = 12

= \frac{2}{3} + \frac{3}{4}

= (4 x 2) + (3 x 3) / 12

= (8) + (9) / 12

= 8 + 9 / 12

= \frac{7}{12}

= 1\frac{5}{12} (further broken down to this)

Therefore, the total amount of liters Sam brings to the party is 1\frac{5}{12}.

The above given math problem deals with fraction. Fraction is a numerical value that represents a part of a whole. It usually consists of a numerator and denominator.

To solve a fractional problem, the lowest common denominators of the given denominators of a math problem are factored out and then multiplied by the numerator as expressed above.

To solve a fraction problem, BODMAS (which is an order of operations) is applied, to derive an efficient answer.

Find the 12th term of the geometric sequence 5, -25, 125, ...5,−25,125,...
katovenus [111]

Answer:

  • a_{12}=-244140625

Step-by-step explanation:

Considering the geometric sequence

5,-25,\:125,\:...

a_1=5

As the common ratio 'r' between consecutive terms is constant.

\mathrm{Compute\:the\:ratios\:of\:all\:the\:adjacent\:terms}:\quad \:r=\frac{a_{n+1}}{a_n}

r=\frac{-25}{5}=-5

r=\frac{125}{-25}=-5

The general term of a geometric sequence is given by the formula:

a_n=a_1\cdot \:r^{n-1}

where a_1 is the initial term and r the common ratio.

Putting n = 12 , r = -5 and a_1=5 in the general term of a geometric sequence to determine the 12th term of the sequence.

a_n=a_1\cdot \:r^{n-1}

a_n=5\left(-5\right)^{n-1}

a_{12}=5\left(-5\right)^{12-1}

      =5\left(-5^{11}\right)

\mathrm{Remove\:parentheses}:\quad \left(-a\right)=-a

       =-5\cdot \:5^{11}

\mathrm{Apply\:exponent\:rule}:\quad \:a^b\cdot \:a^c=a^{b+c}

        =-5^{1+11}     ∵ 5\cdot \:5^{11}=\:5^{1+11}

        =-244140625

Therefore,

  • a_{12}=-244140625

The original sale price of an item at markdowns is $110.95. You have an additional 20% off coupon for markdowns for purchases to
IRINA_888 [86]

Answer:

$22.19

Step-by-step explanation:

20% off the original price = $110.95 - (20% x $110.95)

20% x $110.95 = $22.19

$110.95 - $22.19 = $88.76

difference = $110.95 - $88.76 = $22.19
