D=number of dimes
q=number of quarters

total is 250 coins so one equation is
d+q=250

dimes are worth 10 cents
quarters are worth 25 cents
I will count cents not dolars
total is 3925 cents
10d+25q=3925

we have
d+q=250
and
10d+25q=3925
multiply first equation by -10 and add to 2nd

-10d-10q=-2500
10d+25q=3925 +
0d+15q=1425

15q=1425
divide both sides by 15
q=95
sub back

d+q=250
d+95=250
d=155

155 dimes
95 quarters
