Answer:

The Texas city is located on the southern side of the United States. The United States lies in the North American plate, which shares a convergent plate boundary with the Pacific plate. Due to this, the subduction zone occurs resulting in the generation of earthquakes of various magnitudes.

The western side of the country shares a transform plate boundary with the Pacific plate, due to which earthquakes of high magnitudes occurs causing a huge amount of destruction.

In the southern side, the Texas city experiences earthquakes but its magnitude is not so high like it arises in the western side. So the earthquakes when occurs here, do not cause much damages. They are mostly considered to be minor earthquakes.

-- Most of the southern part of the state is considered to have
no risk of damage.

-- Most of the upper part of the state is considered to be at risk
for only minor damage.

-- A tiny part of the state, in the 'Big Bend' region in the west, is
considered to be at risk for moderate damage.

A thunderclap sends a sound wave through the air and the ocean below. The
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:

C. 14.93 m

Explanation:

The given frequency of the wave, f = 100 Hz

The given equation for the wave speed, <em>v</em>, is presented as follows;

v = f × λ

The speed of sound in water, v = 1,493 m/s

Therefore, we get;

The wavelength, λ = v/f

∴ λ = 1,493 m/s/(100 Hz) = 14.93 m

The wavelength, λ = 14.93 m.

A ball was rolling downhill at 2 m/s. After 5s, it was rolling at 90 m/s. What is its acceleration?
olga55 [171]

Answer:

17.6 m/s²

Explanation:

Given:

v_{f} = 90 m/s (final velocity)

v_{i} = 2 m/s (initial velocity)

Δt = 5s (change in time)

The formula for acceleration is:

a_{avg} = Δv / Δt

We can find Δv by doing

Δv = v_{f} - v_{i}

Replace the values

Δv = 90m/s - 2m/s

Δv= 88m/s

Using the equation from earlier, we can find the acceleration by dividing the average velocity by time.

a_{avg} = Δv / Δt

a_{avg} = \frac{88m/s}{5/s}

acceleration = 17.6 m/s^{2}
