Little 'arms' = ( 1×1 ) × 2 = 2cm²

12+2 = 14cm² removed in total

2) Left extruding part = 4 × 2 = 8cm²

Middle part = 4 × 6 = 24cm²

Right extruding part = 2 × 4 = 8cm²

In total 8 + 24 + 8 = 40cm² removed

Original area = 22 × ( 4+2+2+2+4 ) (which is 14) = 308cm²

308cm²- 40cm² = 268cm² left
