A 27.5-g object moving to the right at 19.0 cm/s overtakes and collides elastically with a 11.5-g object moving in the same dire

ction at 15.0 cm/s. Find the velocity of each object after the collision. (Take the positive direction to be to the right. Indicate the direction with the sign of your answer.)

Answer:

After collision, velocity of massive object 27.5 g has reduced from 19 cm/s to 16.64 cm/s while that of lighter object 11.5 has increased from 15 cm/s to 20.64 cm/s because of elastic collision.

Explanation:

As, this question has two parts: a) We have to find the velocity after the collision with the mass of the object 27.5 g.

b) We have to find the velocity with 11.5 g mass of the object.

Now,

In this case the massive body collides with the lighter body. As we know;

Mass of massive object = m1 = 27.5 g

Velocity of m1 before collision = v1 = 19 cm/s

mass of lighter object = m2 = 11.5 g

velocity of m2 before collision = v2 = 15 cm/s

We have to find the velocity of m1 and m2 after the collision

a)

Velocity of 27.5 g object after collision = v1' = ?

v1' = (m1-m2)/(m1+m2)×v1 + 2×m2/(m1+m2)×v2

v1' = (27.5-11.5)/27.5+11.5)×(19) + 2×(11.5)/(27.5+11.5)×(15)

v1' = 7.795 + 8.846

v1' = 16.64 cm/s.

b)

Velocity of 11.5 g object after collision = v2' = ?

v2' = 2×m1/(m1+m2)×v1 + (m2-m1)/(m1+m2)×v2

v2' = 2×(27.5)/(27.5+11.5)×(19) + (11.5-27.5)/(27.5+11.5)×(15)

v2' = 26.795 + (-6.154)

v2' = 20.641 cm/s.

Ivan

it would be appropriate to round a number when you are talking about people or animals. Ex. it fits 10 1/2 people. it will most likely fit 9-11 people.

You it is not appropriate to round with money.

Ex. If you owe someone $9.43 you don't just give them $9

It takes 20s for 3x10^6 electrons to flow through a wire ,what is the current?
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

Explanation:

The variables we know and are given are:

time, t = 20s

Charge, Q = 3x1-^-6 electrons, which is just 3x10^-6C (C stands for Coulombs, which is the unit for Charge)

We need to find the current, I, and since we know Q and t we can substitute these values into the given equation:

I=Q/t (which if you look at what the RHS is saying, its Charge over time, or more literally means the amount of charge passing a point over a period of time)

If we substitute these values, we will get I as:

I = Q / t

I = 3x10^-6 / 20

I = 1.5x10^-7 A

Hope this helps!

1. Water boils at 100°C at sea level. If the water in this experiment did not boil at 100°C, what could be the reason?
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

It may not be at the sea level

Explanation:

The reason here is water only boils at sea level. This means that if you move water to a different height, say top of a mountain, the boiling temperature of water would change. This is due to the pressure drop at high place. The drop of pressure would make it harder to transform water liquid to gas, thus requiring more temperature.
