Answer:

B) increase contact between solute and solvent molecules, increase rate of solution

Explanation:

Stirring, crushing, heating all help to increase contact between solute and solvent molecules, increase rate of solution. The more contact between the solute particles and the solvent, the faster the solute dissolves.

Stirring, crushing and heating increases the contact between the solute and solvent particles and increases the rate of dissolution of the solute, into the solution. They lead to spreading of the solvent molecules, across the solute and affect solubility. Particle size is another factor which affects solubility.

The state of matter with a specific volume but no definite shape is the _____ state.
bagirrra123 [75]

The state of matter with a specific volume but no definite shape is the Liquid state.

Explanation:

There are three states of matter according to chemical science: Solid, Liquid and Gas. There is not much space in among the molecules. The particles in a liquid are free to float, so while a liquid has a certain volume it has no definite form. Liquids are composed of atoms or molecules bound by inter molecular bonds.

Most of the liquids resist compression while some do not, unlike a gas, a liquid will not spread to fill any container room and will retain a fairly constant density. A characteristic liquid state property is surface tension that results to wetting phenomena. Water is perhaps the most frequent substance on Earth.

Are ALL cations positive or negative ions
Mamont248 [21]

Answer: Ions result from atoms or molecules that have gained or lost one or more valence electrons, giving them a positive or negative charge. Those with a negative charge are called anions and those with a positive charge are called cations. Cations (positively-charged ions) and anions (negatively-charged ions) are formed when a metal loses electrons, and a nonmetal gains those electrons. ... And all of them form an anion with a single negative charge. The VIA elements gain two electrons to form anions with a 2- charge.

hope this helps

How much heat is required to raise the temperature of 670g of water from 25.7"C to 66,0°C? The specific heat
inna [77]

Answer:

Explanation:

q= mc theta

where,

Q = heat gained

m = mass of the substance = 670g

c = heat capacity of water= 4.1 J/g°C

theta =Change in temperature=( 66-25.7)

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get the amount of heat needed.

q= mctheta

q=670*4.1*(66-25.7)

 =670*4.1*40.3

=110704.1

At what pH range bayer process operate? and why?
Novosadov [1.4K]

Explanation:

Bayer process is industrial method of the refining of the bauxite to produce alumina which is aluminum oxide.

As alumina is amphoteric in nature, it exhibits a higher solubility at both the extremes of pH range, it is possible to dissolve alumina in low as well as in high pH solutions.

Dissolution of the alumina at high pH is well recognized in Bayer process. Bauxite is digested in very high pH solution (> 13) of alkali like sodium hydroxide at temperature of about 150–250°C and pressure at 20 atm. This is done so that the dissolved alumina is separated from rest of insoluble bauxite minerals.
