Answer:

None of these.

The correct answer should be, 4-ethylheptane.

Explanation:

In naming Alkanes, the general rules apply:

I. Identify the longest continuous carbon chain and name it as the root or parent name.

II. Identify any side chains and add their names and positions as a prefix to the parent chain.

III. When there are more than one type of side chain, name them alphabetically.

IV. Use hyphens between numbers and letters and commas between numbers.

V. Number your side chains to obtain the lowest number combinations possible.

For the above question,

first, attempt drawing only the carbon skeleton, of 3-propylhexane thus,

C-C-C-C-C-C

|

C-C-C

The longest continuous carbon chain (numbering from the top right) is 7 carbon atoms, hence, parent or root name is heptane. The 2 carbon atoms (at top left) not numbered make up the alkyl group called ethyl and since they are attached to carbon number 4 of the numbered carbon atoms ( whether the numbering is from top right to bottom right or vice versa ), their position and name should be written as a prefix to the parent name. That is why the organic compound is named, 4-ethylheptane.

Please note that in drawing the carbon skeleton of 3-propylhexane, the name is the same even if you start placing the bottom 3 carbon atoms on the 3rd carbon (top) from the left or from the right because the numbering can start from any side to achieve the lowest number combinations of numbering common Alkanes.

Rachel burns a 53 gram cracker under a soda can filled with 81.6 grams of water. She took the temperature of the water before sh
Anna11 [10]

Answer

Q=4479.8 cal

Procedure

To solve the problem you will need to use the specific heat formula

Q=mc\Delta T

Where;

Q=heat energy

m=mass

c=specific heat capacity

ΔT=change in temperature

Assuming that the heat released from the cracker of unknown material is equal to the heat absorbed by the water, then we can use the c and m for water in our calculations.

c_{water}=4.186\frac{J}{g\degree C}

Substituting the values in our equation we have

Q=mc\Delta T=81.6\text{ }g(4.186\frac{J}{g\degree C})(68.1-13.2)\degree C=18752.61\text{ }J

Finally, transform the J to cal

18752.61\text{ }J\frac{1\text{ }cal}{4.186\text{ }J}=4479.8\text{ cal}

What is the mass of the light bulb? a. 425.6 g b. 204.6 g c. 240.56 g d. 245.64 g
VMariaS [17]

245.64 g is the mass of the light bulb.

What is mass ?

Mass is a physical body's total amount of matter. Inertia, or the body's resistance to acceleration when a net force is applied, is also measured by this term. The strength of an object's gravitational pull to other bodies is also influenced by its mass. The kilogram serves as the SI's fundamental mass unit.

 • For a body, mass is constant. Mass can be calculated using the formula: mass = volume density. A mass's weight is a measurement of the gravitational force at work on it. The kilogram is the SI unit of mass.
 • The mass of the substance will therefore be calculated as follows: MASS OF A SUBSTANCE = VOLUME DENSITY.

So finally we can say that the mass of the light bulb and paperclips together is 245.64 g.

Answer:

6.82 moles of Fe2O3

Explanation:

Step 1:

Determination of the number of mole of in 450g of CO2.

This is illustrated below:

Molar Mass of CO2 = 12 + (2x16) = 44g/mol

Mass of CO2 = 450g

Number of mole of CO2 =.?

Number of mole = Mass/Molar Mass

Number of mole of CO2 = 450/44 = 10.23 moles

Step 2:

Determination of the number of mole of Fe2O3 needed for the reaction. This is illustrated below:

2Fe2O3 + 3C—> 4Fe + 3CO2

From the balanced equation above,

2 moles of Fe2O3 reacted to produce 3 moles of CO2.

Therefore, Xmol of Fe2O3 will react to produce 10.23 moles of CO2 i.e

Xmol of Fe2O3 = (2x10.23)/3

Xmol of Fe2O3 = 6.82 moles

Therefore, 6.82 moles of Fe2O3 is required.

What is the only type of plate inaction that can cause an earthquake to be 9.0 on the Richter Scale?
Sedaia [141]

Answer: Subduction zone

Explanation: How do we know the subduction zone exists here? Mostly because of geological data left behind by subduction zone earthquakes, known as megathrust earthquakes. Subduction zones are the only type of plate meeting that can cause earthquakes greater than magnitude 8.5, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.
