In 1668, Francesco Redi performed a series of experiments on spontaneous generation. He began by putting similar pieces of meat

into eight identical jars. Four jars were left open to the air, and four were sealed. He then did the same experiment with one variation: Instead of sealing four of the jars completely, he covered them with gauze (the gauze excluded the flies while allowing the meat to be exposed to air). In both experiments, he monitored the jars and recorded whether or not maggots (young flies) appeared in the meat.

Which organisms, out of fish, chicks, mouse, and human embryos, would be more closely related and which would be less closely re
Rainbow [258]

Answer:

the chicks and mouse would be losely conected because they have more of the same gentic material and fish and humans would havwe the same since they kind act like the same because The recent advances in developmental biology described  have established the central importance of a small number of highly conserved signal transduction pathways that mediate cell interactions crucial for animal physiology, reproduction, and development. It seems likely that many developmental toxicants might affect development by acting on those pathways. Application of the methods that have been so successful in elucidating them should now allow scientists to investigate that possibility and to determine the mechanisms by which developmental toxicants act. This chapter reviews the experimental approaches primarily responsible for the recent advances in knowledge about animal development and discusses how those approaches might be applied to developmental toxicology. Chapter 8 discusses how those approaches might lead to improved qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.

Which of the following situations or phrases most accurately describes the citric acid cycle?
Bond [772]

The correct answer is: B) "All roads lead to Rome"

Citric acid cycle also called tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and Krebs cycle is a central process in cellular respiration. Citric acid cycle that connects carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism so “all the roads” from the different metabolic pathways come to this cycle.

Acetyl-CoA which is produced through the oxidation of pyruvate (pyruvate is a product of glycolysis) enters the cycle which then produces reduced electron carriers NADH, FAD2 and energy molecule ATP. These electron carriers will then pass their electrons into the electron transport chain and, through the process of oxidative phosphorylation, will produce more ATP.

Outline what has to occur in the body for a reflex and a voluntary action to occur.
enot [183]

Answer:

For involuntary actions (reflexes) the information is first detected in the sensor and travels along sensory neurons to the spinal cord. Once the action potential reaches the spinal cord, the information is transmitted across the synapse to the motor neuron. for voluntary actions,

movements are commanded by the motor cortex, the zone of the cerebrum located behind the frontal lobe. The motor cortex sends a neural message that moves through the brain stem along the spinal cord and into the neural network to the muscle being commanded.
