How is radiation different from convection and conduction?

Physics

Answer:  It can travel through empty space

Explanation:

Let's begin by explaining that there are <u>three</u> ways in which the thermal transfer occurs:

1. By Conduction, when the transmission is by the <u>direct contact.</u>

2. By Convection,<u> heat transfer in fluids</u> (like water or the air, for example).

3. By Radiation, by the <u>electromagnetic waves</u> (<u>they can travel through any medium and in vacumm</u>) .

Hence, both conduction and convection need matter to transfer thermal energy, but by radiation there is no need of matter for the heat transfer.

So, since outter space is vacuum (sometimes called "empty" or "empty space"), energy cannot be transmitted by convection, nor conduction. Therfore, it must be transmitted by electromagnetic waves that are able to travel with or without a medium (by radiation).

Answer:

Lighthouse 1 during the day will be warmer, lighthouse 2 during the night will be warmer.

Explanation:

As the paragraph stated land absorbs heat and heats up faster than water. So during the day the lighthouse farthest away from the water will be hotter. But then the converse is true also land losses heat faster than water at night. So the water retains the heat from the day better making the lighthouse by the water warmer at night.

A Parachutist with a camera, with descending at a speed of 12.5m/s, releases, the camera at an altitude of 64.3m. What is the ma
jonny [76]

Given :

Initial velocity, u = 12.5 m/s.

Height of camera, h = 64.3 m.

Acceleration due to gravity, g = 9.8 m/s².

To Find :

How long does it take the camera to reach the ground.

Solution :

By equation of motion :

h = ut+\dfrac{gt^2}{2}

Putting all given values, we get :

12.5t+\dfrac{9.8t^2}{2}=64.3\\\\4.9t^2+12.5t=64.3

t = 2.56  and t = −5.116.

Since, time cannot be negative.

t = 2.56 s.

Therefore, time taken is 2.56 s.

Hence, this is the required solution.

Do all objects fall at the same rate?and if they do not why?
Tema [17]
No, I heavier object will fall much faster than something lighter than it. This is because it’s more dense and hard so it can cut through the air particles quicker than a lighter object which takes longer to cut through the air and fall

Example:

A rock vs a feather
The rock will fall quicker because it’s more dense and falls straight down and the feather will be slower because it flows slowly down through the air particles

What is the frequency of a wave that has a period of vibration of 2 seconds?
34kurt

Answer:

The answer is 0.5 Hz

Explanation:

Its pretty easy to get the answer. One hertz (Hz) is equal to one cycle or period per second. So, just divide the period by the number of seconds.

1 period/2 secs = 1/2 Hz or 0.5 Hz
