What does x equal if x^3-5x^2+2x=10

In order to find what x equals, we need to make it so x is on one side and what it equals, on the other.
First of all, we subtract 10 from both sides. You will now have:
x^3 - 5x^2 + 2x - 10 = 0
You will now either factor it which is recommended or use the Cubic Formula which is pretty difficult to memorize and to solve. I will now factor it.
( x - 5) ( x^2 + 2 ) = 0
You can now take both of the expressions inside and make them equal to zero and solve them.
x - 5 = 0x = 5
x^2 + 2 = 0x^2 = -2
x <span>≈</span> 1.41421356i
The second option is irrational and uses an imaginary number which you will start seeing in Alegbra II (or already have if you are taking it or have already passed it), so the first one which is 5, is the correct answer.
Answer: 5

What is the most precise name for a quadrilateral with the following vertices:
lozanna [386]

Answer:

The most precise name for a quadrilateral ABCD is a parallelogram

Step-by-step explanation:

we have

A(2,3) B(7,2) C(6,-1) D(1,0)

Plot the quadrilateral'

using a graphing tool

The quadrilateral ABCD in the attached figure

Verify the length of the sides

the formula to calculate the distance between two points is equal to

d=\sqrt{(y2-y1)^{2}+(x2-x1)^{2}}

step 1

Find distance AB

A(2,3) B(7,2)

substitute

d=\sqrt{(2-3)^{2}+(7-2)^{2}}

d=\sqrt{(-1)^{2}+(5)^{2}}

d_A_B=\sqrt{26}\ units

step 2

Find distance BC

B(7,2) C(6,-1)

substitute

d=\sqrt{(-1-2)^{2}+(6-7)^{2}}

d=\sqrt{(-3)^{2}+(-1)^{2}}

d_B_C=\sqrt{10}\ units

step 3

Find distance CD

C(6,-1) D(1,0)

substitute

d=\sqrt{(0+1)^{2}+(1-6)^{2}}

d=\sqrt{(1)^{2}+(-5)^{2}}

d_C_D=\sqrt{26}\ units

step 4

Find distance AD

A(2,3) D(1,0)

substitute

d=\sqrt{(0-3)^{2}+(1-2)^{2}}

d=\sqrt{(-3)^{2}+(-1)^{2}}

d_A_D=\sqrt{10}\ units

step 5

Compare the length sides

AB=CD

BC=AD

Opposite sides are congruent

<em>Verify the slope of the sides</em>

The formula to calculate the slope between two points is equal to

m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

step 1

Find slope AB

A(2,3) B(7,2)

substitute

m=\frac{2-3}{7-2}

m=\frac{-1}{5}

m_A_B=-\frac{1}{5}

step 2

Find slope BC

B(7,2) C(6,-1)

substitute

m=\frac{-1-2}{6-7}

m=\frac{-3}{-1}

m_B_C=3

step 3

Find slope CD

C(6,-1) D(1,0)

substitute

m=\frac{0+1}{1-6}

m=\frac{1}{-5}

m_C_D=-\frac{1}{5}

step 4

Find slope AD

A(2,3) D(1,0)

substitute

m=\frac{0-3}{1-2}

m=\frac{-3}{-1}

m_A_D=3

step 5

Compare the slopes

m_A_B=m_C_D

m_B_C=m_A_D

The slope of the opposite sides are equal, that means, opposite sides are parallel

The slopes of consecutive sides are not opposite reciprocal, that means, consecutive sides are not perpendicular

therefore

For a popular broadway musical, the theater box office sold 356 tickets at $80 apiece, 275 tickets at $60 apiece, and 369 ticket
Rudik [331]
It's is $61 585 because all you have to do is mulitiply 356 by $80, 275 by $60 and 369 by $45
356 x 80 = 28 480 275 x 60 = 16 500
369 x 45 = 16 605
Add the answers together

28 480. And there's your answer
16 500
+16 605
-----------
$61585

Pyramide-shaped gift boxes have square bases that measure 5 inches on each side.The slant height is 6.5 inches.How much cardboar
andrew-mc [135]
1. square base area= 25 inches

2. using the slanted 6.5
=1/2base , therefore 5/2=2.5 inches

3. then use pythagoras.... c=6.5, a=2.5
c^2=a^2 + b^2
(do this urself)

4. when u find what b is... that's the height of one of the triangle
base= 2.5 (look at step 2 if u don't understand this bit)
height=b (refer to step 3)

5. then work out the area of 1 triangle using that...
6. then have (the answer u work out in step 5 ) multiply 4
this will give u the area for the all of the 4 triangles...

7. Then add together the square based area in step 1..(25)
to the 4 triangular, area faces (i.e from step 6) - the total will be ur answer for the amount of cardboard!!

p.s don't forget the units!!!
