Give a simple explanation why the pressure changes by this factor.Word Bank:1. two2.greater3.smaller4.four5.eightDoubling the sp

eed of the molecules means that they will hit the walls of the container___times as often.
Further, since the molecules bounce off the walls at twice the speed, their momentum change is___times as great.
This means that the average force imparted to the wall on each collision is___times .
Taken together, these two factors will lead to a factor of____in increase of the pressure.

Answer

speed of the molecules

s₁ = v t

when velocity is doubled

s₂ = (2 v)t

   = 2 s₁

they will hit the wall of container two times as often.

the momentum of molecule

p₁ = mvr

p₂ = m(2v)r = 2(mvr)

    = 2 p₁

the momentum change is two times as great.

force is change in momentum

Δp = F(Δt)

mv-(-mv) = 2 mv

F = \dfrac{2 mv}{\Delta t}

F α v

therefore average force impart to the wall on each collision is two times

p = \dfrac{F_{total}}{A}

p = \dfrac{Nmv^2}{3LA}

p α v²

here the velocity is doubled it means pressure becomes four times.

A small button placed on a horizontal rotating platform with diameter 0.520 m will revolve with the platform when it is brought
yawa3891 [41]

For the position of button we can use force balance as

Friction Force = Centripetal force

so here we will have

\mu_s mg = m\omega^2 R

here we know that

R = radius of circle where button is placed

\omega = 2\pi f

f = 35 rev/min

f = \frac{35}{60} rev/s = 0.58 rev/s

\omega = 2\pi (0.58) = 3.66 rad/s

now from above equation

\mu_s(m)(9.81) = (3.66)^2(0.240)

\mu_s = 0.33

so friction coefficient will be 0.33

A planet follows an elliptical orbit that brings it as close as 21 million km to a star and as far as 75 million km from the sta
nexus9112 [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

In an elliptical orbit , the angular momentum of the planet remains constant because velocity of planet makes a right angle to the direction to the star .

mvr = constant .

mv₁r₁ = mv₂r₂

v₁r₁ = v₂r₂

v₁ x 21 = 38 x 75

v₁ = 135.71 km/s .
