If we know your Pythagorean Triples we can immediately recognize that the last choice is a right triangle:

8² + 15² = 17²

If you don't know your Pythagorean Triples, it's worth learning the first few off the list because teachers use them in problems all the time.  But for now let's just exhaustively check the Pythagorean Theorem for each triangle.  We don't have to multiply everything out; we can analyze the common factors.  If two have a common factor that the third one doesn't have, there's no way for the Pythagorean Theorem to add up.

Clearly 5²+15² is a multiple of 5 but 18² isn't so that one isn't a right triangle.

6²+12² is a multiple of 6, 16² isn't a multiple of 6, not an RT.

15²-5² is a multiple of 5, 13² isn't, no joy.

8²+15² = 64 + 225 = 289 = 17² -- that's a real right triangle, a valid Pythagorean Triple.

The scale factor is 1/2 because when you multiply the x and y-coordinates of each point by 1/2, you will get the coordinates of the new dilated points.

There are 4 white and 5 red (indistinguishable) balls in a bag. Suppose you draw one ballout at a time without replacement and s
Alchen [17]

Answer:

5/9

Step-by-step explanation:

What we have in this question are four white balls and 5 red balls.

This is the sample space

[(4w,0R) (4w,1R)(4w,2R)(4w,3R)(4w,4R)(0w,5R)(1w,5R)(2w,5R)

So we have 9 possible sets of events

The event number with the last ball being white = 5

Probability of the last ball drawn being white = 5/9

= 0.56

What is the rate of change shown in the graph
ahrayia [7]

Answer:

-4/3  (Answer A)

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we go from the point (-3, 3) on the left to the point (0, -1) on the right.  It is immediately apparent that x (the run) increases by 3 from -3 to 0 and that y (the rise) decreases by 4 from 3 to -1.  Thus, the slope of this line (which is also the rate of change) is

m = rise / run = -4/3  (Answer A)
