suter [353]

Calculate h(1):

h(a) = 2a - 4 → h(1) = 2(1) - 4 = 2 - 4 = -2

Next calculate g(-2):

g(a) = a - 5 → g(-2) = -2 - 5 = -7

For how many integers $n$ is it true that $\sqrt{n} \le \sqrt{4n - 6} < \sqrt{2n + 5}$?
ale4655 [162]

\bf \sqrt{n}\leqslant \sqrt{4n-6}

\bf \sqrt{n}< \sqrt{2n+5}\implies \stackrel{\textit{squaring both sides}}{n< 2n+5}\implies 0\leqslant 2n - n + 5 \\\\\\ 0 < n+5\implies \boxed{-5 < n} \\\\\\ \stackrel{-5\leqslant n < 2}{\boxed{-5}\rule[0.35em]{10em}{0.25pt}0\rule[0.35em]{3em}{0.25pt}2}

namely, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1. Excluding "2" because n < 2.

Answer:

The cost of the $0.5 per cookies and $1.25 per brownie.

Option (A) is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the cost of the cookies =x

Let us assume that the cost of the brownie = y

As given

Sara is selling cookies and brownies as a fundraiser for the school band.

She charges $2.25 for two cookies and one brownie.

Than the equation becomes

2x + y = 2.25

She charges $5.75 for four cookies and three brownies.

4x + 3y = 5.75

Than two equation are

2x + y = 2.25 and 4x + 3y = 5.75

Multiply 2x + y = 2.25 by 3 and subtracted from 4x + 3y = 5.75

4x - 6x + 3y - 3y = 5.75 - 6.75

-2x = - 1

2x = 1

x = \frac{1}{2}

x = $0.5

Put in the equation 2x + y = 2.25

2 × 0.5 + y = 2.25

1 + y = 2.25

y = 2.25 - 1

y = $1.25

Therefore the cost of the $0.5 per cookies and $1.25 per brownie.

Option (A) is correct.
