Well as detailed as this mans answer may be, most online school systems seem to believe the answer to this question to be true.

Is it true that the heart contracts and that as a result of this, the blood is pumped, but the second part of the statement, that the same is true of the arteries is not true- arteries are more passive, and they just allow the passage of blood.

So the entire statement is false.
