The main factors that determine the speed of a wave in any particular medium are _____.

Physics
1 answer:
vodka [1.7K]3 years ago

It all depends on what kind of wave, and what kind of medium.

For mechanical waves, like sound and earthquakes, the speed
is determined by the mechanical properties of the medium, like
density and stiffness.

For electromagnetic waves, like radio and light, the speed is
determined by the electrical properties of the medium, like
magnetic permeability and electrostatic permittivity.

That's a big part of the reason why sound and light travel
at different speeds through air, water, and jello.

Convert 100°c into Faherenite and kelvin in steps.
wel

Answer:

100°c = 373.15 K

100°C=212°F

Explanation:

  • Given the 100°C

To convert Celsius to Kelvin, we need the following equation.

°C + 273.15 = K

100°C + 273.15 = K

373.15 = K

Therefore, 100°c = 373.15 K

  • Celsius To Fahrenhite:

F = 9/5C + 32

   =9/5(100)+32

  = (180) + 32

  = 212°

Therefore,

100°C=212°F

A tuning fork, frequency 385/sec produces resources with a closed tube 20cm long and 4cm in diameter what is the speed of sound?
fiasKO [112]

Answer:

308 m/s

Explanation:

In a closed tube, the length of the tube (L) is related to the wavelength of the standing wave (\lambda) by the relationship

L=\frac{1}{4}\lambda

In this problem, the length of the tube is L=20 cm=0.20 m, so we can find the wavelength of the standing wave:

\lambda=4L=4 \cdot 0.20 m=0.80 m

And no we can find the speed of the sound wave by using the following equation:

c=\lambda f

where f=385 s^{-1} is the frequency of the wave. So, we find

c=(0.80 m)(385 s^{-1})=308 m/s

Which statement describes the movement of water when a cell shrinks and shrivels due to osmosis?
crimeas [40]

Answer:

Water went out of the cell because the concentration of water inside the cell was higher than the concentration outside the cell describes the movement of water when a cell shrinks and shrivels due to [ osmosis. Expert answered|emdjay23|Points 175268| Log in for more information.

Explanation:

Water went out of the cell because the concentration of water inside the cell was higher than the concentration outside the cell.

when there is a higher concentration of water inside the cell, water will begin to move out of the cell, eventually creating a hypertonic solution in which the cell shrivels and shrinks.

A reconnaissance plane flies 605 km away from
kolezko [41]

Answer:

                      v_{avg}  = 355 m/s

Explanation:

Distance = 605 km

Initial speed = v_{i} = 284 m/s

Final velocity = v_{f} = 426 m/s

Average speed = ?

There is two method two find average speed. In first method, using 3rd equation of motion, we find acceleration.

                        2as = v_{f}^{2}+v_{i}^{2}

Then using first equation of motion, we find time

                        v_{f} = v_{i}+at

Then using the formula of average velocity, we find average velocity

                         v_{avg}=\frac{total-distance}{total-time}

Second method is very simple

                                  v_{avg}=\frac{v_{f}+v_{i} }{2}

                                   v_{avg}=\frac{426+284}{2}

                                   v_{avg}  = 355 m/s
