A rescue helicopter is hovering over a person whose boat has sunk. One of the rescuers throws a life preserver straight down to

the victim with an initial velocity of 1.40 m/s and observes that it takes 1.50 s to reach the water.

Answer:

13.125 m

Explanation:

b) The quantity which are known as

Initial velocity of life preserver, u = 1.40 m/s

time to reach, t = 1.50 s

final velocity of the life preserver, v = 0 m/s

acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/s²

a) height of the preserver above water

   using equation of motion

    h = u t + \dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

    h = 1.4\times 1.50 + \dfrac{1}{2}\times 9.8\times 1.5^2

          h = 13.125 m

Hence, the height from where preserver is thrown is equal to 13.125 m

A uniform magnetic field B⃗ , with magnitude 1.2 mT, is directed vertically upward throughout the volume of a laboratory chamber
nadezda [96]

Answer:

1. The proton is deflected toward the east by the magnetic force, but its kinetic energy does not change

Explanation:

This is consequently because the magnetic field unlike the electric field, deflects the electron but does not change its speed or kinetic energy.

In an NMR experiment, the RF source oscillates at 34 MHz and magnetic resonance of the hydrogen atoms in the sample being in- ve
choli [55]

Answer:

B_{int}=-0.015T

Explanation:

From the question we are told that:

RF source oscillation speed \sigma= 34 MHz

The external field Bext =0.78 T.

Pro- ton magnetic moment component \mu=1.41 X 10-26 J/T

Generally the equation for magnitude of B_{int} is mathematically given by

B_{int}=B_{ext}-\frac{h\triangle \sigma}{2 \mu}

B_{int}=0.78-\frac{6.6*10^{-34}*34*10^6}{2*1.41*10^{26}}

B_{int}=0.78-0.7957

B_{int}=-0.015T
